Add networked win10 printer on XP machine, almost but not quite!?

I've been having a heck of a time trying to add a Windows 10 local printer, as a network printer on a Windows XP machine on the same workgroup. Through reading forums, I've been able to get the computers seen, as well as the printer, but when I go to connect to it on the XP machine, it prompts me for a username and password and I can't get passed that step, even when I enter the username and password from the Win10 machine. I have password protected sharing off in the advanced sharing settings in the win10 machine. Not sure what else to do??

The easiest way to achieve this is to print the printer on the network without sharing. I'm assuming that you have the printer connected to a Windows 10 Computer and are trying to share it with the XP Computer. If you would connect the printer directly to the network, you could rid your self of the annoyance of trying to share the printer. If I were you, I would purchase one of these:

    Amazon.com

This would put your printer directly on the network and every computer on your network would be able to print directly to the printer instead of using the share. My 2 cents...hope it helps.

Shortly after I posted this I was able to get it working, although not sure exactly what fixed it, so I had marked it as solved

Glad you got it working. I knew it could be done...but it is much easier the way I mentioned.
