    Hi folks

    @JustSnooze

    I think I can get to the bottom of this problem :

    1) RAR files are usually always suspicious if downloading from web sites and especially torrent sites.

    2) the "Tank" things (World of Tanks web site) I've seen on a lot of Torrent sites (and other file sharing websites such as mediafire etc) - when you want to download something this site often appears before you get to the real download page you want to download from.

    Here's what I got from trying to download your file -- I'm on a decent Linux system so the "Tank" site doesn't inhibit the "Real download"

    I can't download anything with browsers-screenshot_20210402_222300.png

    I have used torrents etc -- and in my experience any .rar type file is always best viewed with suspicion.

    Cheers

    I think you are mis understanding the post and the thread -- your link points to that "Tank" site - so the browser is being initially mis-directed but the actual file you need to download is the rar file at the adress you can see in the screenshot --- but rar files are often infested with malware etc so A.Y.O.R on that one.

    But sometimes the "tank" site or other site doesn't appear when i click download and I can't download it anyway. With a VPN the download speed doesn't drop to 0 b/s and the download continue

    When you did a fresh install of Windows did you try a download before installing your VPN? Clutching at straws I know.

    What happened when you tried to download files before installing your VPN after clean installing Windows 10?

    Sometimes also some ISP's don't like people using particular web sites -- the UK believe it or not blocks more web sites than N.Korea or Iran put together !!
    In the UK blocking only applies to ISPs with > 400,000 subscribers and is targeted at copyright infringement (music, movies) and child pornography.

    List of websites blocked in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia

    If you try to access a blocked site you get a page saying 'pursuant to orders of the high court blah blah...' - it's not a case of downloading simply not working.
