File sharing on LAN suddenly stopped

My two desktops on the same LAN, connected to the same router, suddenly stopped being able to share files. It was working just a few days ago. Let's day, the desktops are "A" and "B", and the router name is "R"

Both pc sees two media devices, Computer "A" and Router "R", nothing else.

I check the network discovery is ON, everything else is working fine, Internet access is perfect.

Plese advise what to look for. I never change the network setting on any of them, Why would they work so unreliabily.

My Windows on both PC has been update online all the time.

Hi, first check through all the configuration settings here.
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

    Try3 posted a checklist here:
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

Second, what happens if you wait 30 mins from logging on/connecting.. do you still not see the other devices?

Third, did you receive any sort of update around the time this problem arose?

4th, have you considered using a System Restore point created before this happened?

The checklist is a very long one, but they do look very familiar. I must have them correctly done all this time, as it has been working all these time, sometimes better then other. Some one pc cannot see the other, but the other one can see it. I have a number of folders have sharing enabled, so when they do see each other, they are are shareable. General, when starting up they would see their shared folders through clickon on "Network" in File Explorer.

The Workgroup name is just the default, "Workgroup", so that should cause any issue, should it?

However, the unreliability seems that they don't always see each other, but one would also see the other all the time, may be not two way "vision", if you know what I mean.

However, today, they are totally blind, except one can see the other as a "media device".

I have never used "restore points", at least no in recent times anyway.

Both PC sits online, so they get online updated as often as it is availble. One pc does get turn on very often, the other is my daily workhorse.
