So, if the SSID will only be used for WoWLAN and nothing else, this effectively will bypass the added security risk that would otherwise result from disabling the GTK Rekeying in the router. With a bit of added ingeniousness, you can make the laptop's WiFi adapter switch to another SSID each time after it wakes up, and make it switch back again each time before it enters sleep.

This of course is not without limitations, as the WiFi connection will be required to remain stable for the entire duration of the sleep session for this to work, and the simultaneous use of two separate SSIDs does introduce some other drawbacks of its own. On the flip side of the coin, my old Asus RT-N66U "Dark Knight" is stable like a rock, and, in 2.4GHz mode the signal range is just literally nothing short of fabulous. Right now I'm in the process of trying to troubleshoot Modern Standby on my new laptop that uses the same Intel WiFi AX201 card as yours, but, so far, it's proven to be on a level of difficulty not wholly dissimilar to that of trying to develop a new vaccine.

I could probably get it to work within my home network, but unfortunately I need it to work remotely. My way of operating also gives me the advantage of keeping the other settings in place such as fast-boot. Essentially, my laptop thinks I'm pressing the enter key so it's actually a lot more simple than my previous plan.

Plus, I'm adding other features such as a script that starts my home vpn connection so the app/server setup was always going to be part of the concoction anyway.

Another thing that held me up was my router doesn't allow broadcasting from external sources. So this was a happy solution that saved me from having to buy a second router.

Often times, this is just an ancient persistent bug─it dates back all the way to the early stage of Windows 7 or further back─that can occur after updating the graphics driver under some circumstances. If this strange bug happens to be the culprit, then luckily there's an easy fix that I discovered myself, a very, VERY long time ago. In the (currently) active Power Plan's advanced settings window, go to the screen off timer, and use your mouse on the little up/down triangle buttons to increase the number of minutes from 'Never' to a few minutes. Hit on Apply, then OK or Close. Wait a couple seconds, then follow the same steps to change it back to 'Never', but make sure to not click on the little triangle button again after the value turns to 'Never', as doing so might cause the fix to not work. The same also applies to entering the box to type in it, causing the fix to not work. If I follow the exact procedure I described above, it just works each and every single time for me. That is, on all my laptops, each one of which either uses both Intel and Nvidia graphics or uses only Intel graphics. (I don't own anything from AMD, and, I don't know if this bug also affects AMD hardware.)

Pressing the Esc key, gets my comp back to working.

From what I've read around the web, there are some issues with the windows solution that haven't been addressed. There's probably some magic configuration when you get everything right that it works. However my solution is definitely better than what I had originally planned as I've taken full control of what happens around the sleep/wake. I'll probably build it into an installer in the next week or two and publish it somewhere for anyone to use.
