Lan Speed (using RJ-45) Lower Than Normal with Asus RT-AX82U

My previous router was dying. I bought an Asus RT-AX3000, had the problem with lower lan speed than ususal. I normally get 462 mbps (I'm in a Spectrum "extreme" area). I called Asus tech support, they were saying I would need to send it in for repair. Spectrum set up a new modem. If we connected my pc directly to the modem, no problem. Connected to the modem, could not get more than 92 mbps. I sent it back to Amazon, got a replacement - same issue. I sent it back and got the one listed in the Thread/Question Title. Spectrum even checked the line signal, etc. I'm using all new CAT6 cables. I even swapped out cables as a test. My PC has Windows 10 Pro. Same on my work laptop, which I did test it with that one as well. My tower pc is only two years old.

I realize routers are progressing to what will inevitably be wifi dominant usage. I have 20+ years IT experience and have never had this issue before. I have used Asus products for years, and no big issues. I have been through every setting in the router, and am at a loss. Any ideas?

What are you using to measure your LAN speed with?

    Clarification

When I said LAN, my intent was to distinguish the fact that I am using a hard wire connection from the router to the PC, not wifi. I have used speedtest.net and others, via browser, downloaded apps. Once I connect the PC directly to the modem, I get 460+ mbps. When I connect the modem to the router and the PC to the router, I cannot get more than 100 mbps.

On your router, there should be a statistics page, probably under advanced settings. What does it show for connection speeds?

It really sounds like the link between your modem and router is running at 100 mbps and not gigabit.

    Speed issue

I'll have to check it this evening after I sign off from work, I can't access the router from the work laptop. Based on your response, if that is the case, what would be the fix?

It was the connection to the switch! You got me to thinking, and now it's working fine. Thanks!

I have the same issue with an Asus AX92U. When I connect directly to an RJ45 LAN port in the cable modem/router I can do 950-960 Mbps tests (downloads from Steam, Epic, are around 600-700 combined, really varies a lot but can't complain), once I connect to an RJ45 LAN port in the Asus router tests are down to 350-400 Mbps (and downloads from Steam, Epic, are even lower at 150-300Mbps). I'm losing my faith in ASUS due to other recent experiences, they have a price premium that I'm finding harder to justify.

    Turn off AiProtection Pro.

Why is it not the same. He was connecting to modem getting 462Mbps, now with Asus router (yes different model than mine), he is getting 92Mbps. Although different results the highlight is Asus and lower download speeds, which is what is happening to me.

To Answer your question AI protection was off.
Here is the speed test with it off:
Lan Speed (using RJ-45) Lower Than Normal with Asus RT-AX82U-speed-test-ai-off.png

    Turn AI protection on:
Lan Speed (using RJ-45) Lower Than Normal with Asus RT-AX82U-speed-test-ai-.png

Seems pretty strange that with it on is higher.
    Tested again with it on:
Lan Speed (using RJ-45) Lower Than Normal with Asus RT-AX82U-speed-test-ai-2.png

Turned AI protection off again and re tested:

It is safe to say I should keep it on, haha. But doesn't make sense since it probably use4s more CPU and memory to have it on.

Please remember that I'm getting 940-950Mbps connected straight to the modem, and I'm comparing gigabit modem to gigabit Asus router, when I use my 2.5Gb adapter and the 2.5Gb port in the modem I get around 1040-1060 Mbps downloads.
