Free VPN, I mean FREE to connect my laptop to desktop when travelling

I'm looking for a Free VPN, I mean FREE , to connect my laptop to desktop when traveling so I can either upload or download respectively transfer files I need.

Trying to find "free VPN" is quite a futile attempt as it appears nobody understands anymore what the meaning of the word free is as all the search results seem to be all the same trying to sell your subscription to VPN service!
It practical seems impossible to find a simple free P2P VPN app.

Does anyone know of a free personal VPN app, so I can connect my laptop to my personal desktop without having to go over a 3rd party?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. These are NOT FREE. Maybe a "free" 30 day trial after you gave them you CC. But FREE they are not if you have to subscribe!
