    No internet connection

    STUMPED!
Computer running W-10 will show network connection but no internet connection. This happens with either ethernet or wifi connected. Have confirmed both ethernet and wifi are good as the LinuxMint computers work properly with both (same connections). Proofed with both Firefox and MS Edge browsers and neither connects to internet.
I have a MOCA system running with four GOCOAX adapters that has been up since about six months ago and working great.
No idea what made the W10 go berzerk but web searching seems to indicate a possible anomaly from a windows update maybe? I'm thinking this may be something others have dealt with..
Tried my old trusted fall back of a MACRUM REFLECT system copy but it does nothing different.

    Thanks in advance

Hello idahjo and welcome to TF ,

Confirm all drivers and BIOS are up to date from PC manufacturer website.

I would try booting from Linux Live (CD or USB) and see if you can connect to the internet on Linux.
This will NOT "install" Linux. But it will allow you to "try" Linux (Ubuntu), without installing.

Try Ubuntu before you install it | Ubuntu

IF you can connect to the internet with an Ubuntu Live CD or USB, then you know the hardware is OK.

    ?

With no internet on the W10 machine I have to download rufus and the linux mint 20.1 with the linux machine and put it on the W10 desktop via a USB stick. Being really stupid with manipulation of things on linux this is the only way I know to do it. LINUX is my wifes computer and it just works great for her but the workings within it are greek to us.
I have a copy of linux mint 20.1, rufus, and ldlinux.sys & ldlinux.bss on the W10 desktop. Rufus wanted to download the two ldlinux files in order for it to continue- but with no internet connection that was a non-starter. So I downloaded them and transferred to the desk top where they sit. What now..Or will it even work that way? *&%$

PS- I'm using the ethernet now with the linux laptop but the W10 desktop will not connect with it...

You can use the attached batch script to reset TCP/IP if you have Internet connection issues.

Did not work- appears the ethernet that actually works on this linux is not being connected by the W10 and I guess it can't work on what it can't see?!?
    Thanks

I could not get rufus to work as it required a .sys and a .bss file that I could not download onto the W10 directly as no internet connected [THE PROBLEM]
But I had ETCHER installed on the W10 from a couple years ago. So made a USB boot flashdrive of Linux MInt 20.1 Can't seem to get it to boot- must be missing something?
    Thanks
