    Some smart devices disconnecting every 2 minutes

    Hi, so my real issue is that some of my smart devices (only the ones with multiple AC outlets such as my power strip and my dual-plug outlet) are disconnecting every 2 minutes. Its not a random disconnect - it is literally happening every 120 seconds where they "click" and reset. I've done ALOT of troubleshooting and I'm starting to think maybe its the router?

    My PC is using ethernet and I don't see any option to connect to Wifi, which I'd like to try to see if it would struggle to keep its connection. How do I add / enable Wifi for the internet coming in to my PC?

    Right now all I see is this:

    Bluetooth operates on the same frequency as 2.4ghz wifi and microwaves. Distance and interference can cause bluetooth to disconnect along with too many devices on BT.

    Looks like I did not explain myself properly.
    I have a modern PC top of line upgrades in 2020.
    I'm just looking to add the Wifi as an option here (see screenshot I posted in original post) so that I can test out Wifi connectivity on my PC. I don't see how to add/show the Wifi option so that I can enable it and use it.

    Please assist...

    You would be downgrading your network connection at that point.

    Yes I understand that but I'm still asking for help on how to do this.
    As you can see from my original post, I'm having an issue in my apartment where multiple-plug smart outlets are resetting themselves at the 2-minute mark. I cant think of anything else than checking the wifi now so I thought this would be another test I could do to troubleshoot the real problem.

    @orlando1974,

    Does your PC have a WiFi adapter card in it? Look in device manager under Network Adapters:

    Ohhhhh... OK I'm not sure why I thought my motherboard had built-in WiFi.. thought it was standard on all mobos nowadays.

    Like @Samuria said, I guess I would have to get a USB "AC Wireless" card if I want to test some Wifi functionality on my PC.

    And to answer @NavyLCDR:

    Interesting. I didn't know that.... however, only my multiple-outlet devices (power strip and dual-outlet) have the issue and it happens at precisely 2 minutes each time. I've also tried both devices in a different room. So doesn't sound to me like this is the cause of the problem...

    Line noise, congestion, etc in a Multi-Tenant Dwelling Unit can cause devices like yours to fail. Suggest going with an alternative method for smart devices. You alao do not need your power strip to be controlled over wifi or Blue Tooth. Adding a wireless adapter via USB is not going to do anything since smart devices that use Wifi or Bluetooth are still operaring on the congested 2.4ghz band.
