Unable to turn on MAC filtering

    Hello,
New gateway, set up mac filtering and blocked devices still connecting. Dual band and doesn't appear to allow mac filtering on 5 MHz channel, possibly due to inability to turn off WPS service. Gateway says WPS is turned off. No option to alter 5 MHz channel.
Can I disable 5 MHz channel and force all connections through 2.4? Is there a better way??
    Thanx

You don't say what brand router you are using . I know like on Netgear under mac address control there is an option which if checked allows all new connections to get on to the network and one that says block all new connections and the mac addresses must be in th list to connect . The mac list should apply to both radios . Dont think there are separate lists . Guess there could be on a really high end router . If you dont want to use the 5 gig radio just dont create an SSID definition for it .

    Hello vipergg,
I have pretty much been lax in understanding the networking thing. Previous router have been only 2.4 GHz. It is a Pace 5286 Gateway. It mostly just set itself up when I plugged it in. It wasn't until I couldn't do the mac filtering because of the WPS feature being on. Never noticed the setting on past units and mac filtering just was on or off. It error ed that the WPS needed to be turned off which I accomplished and set the mac filtering which now worked to on and set up list. Customer support and a few quick duckduckgo searches mentioned the 5 MHz. issue.Customer support confirmed that this model doesn't have it on that channel.
Both channels are connected as all my devices on the same SSID possibly from my previous units configuration (ATT). That is about as far as my current knowledge extends.
    Thanks
