Wifi doesn't show Home's wifi but show neighbouring wifi(s)

Hi, it's been quite some time since i came here for help. But behold Microsoft didn't kept me long.

So it's been 3 days since i'm experiencing this on my HP Laptop running Windows 10 20H2 build 19082.645.

But 3 days ago i was running version 1909, and this problem was also persisting on the version too. The problem is that my Laptop doesn't even show my Home's own wifi but shows and can connect to Neighboring wifi(s) and can connect to my Smartphone's hotspot as well. But this problem starting appearing 3 days ago, so i started googling and encountered several threads which date back to 2011 with people running windows 7. Some threads says that it's got to do with the "WAN Miniports" which causes confusion in the windows process to identify the known wifi network, Those threads said i need to disable and then remove them with some "netsh" commands via Command-prompt and i did that as well but no avail.. while some suggests that it's got to do with Modem's Channel settings where some Models can't connect to Channel above 6 or so, did that aswell but nope.

I updated to version 20H2 yesterday, and it fixed the problem my Laptop was able to connect to my Wifi network and i also tried it out by restarting my Laptop a couple of time and it seemed the update fixed the problem but nope today it went the same.

So my last hope is you guys here. Hope i didn't make this a spaghetti post. If i need to post more info then please let me know. I'll check this thread back in a while. Thank you :)

    Try this:

    1. In the search bar type Services
    2. Open the Services App in the result from above
    3. Scroll down and find WLAN AutoConfig
    4. Double Click on the above and change the Startup type to Automatic
    5. Check to see if you can now see your local WiFi

Additionally, Windows Upgrades often cause old drivers to stop functioning. You can use Device Manager to uninstall your WiFi adapter then after that is completed, restart your laptop. When Windows restarts it will find a new device (your WiFi) and reinstall the adapter which will result in Windows looking for a driver. Windows may ask if you want to update the driver or use the one found already on your computer. Choose the update option.

Is it possible that your router is dying?

Hi! Railtech. Thanks for the reply, i've tried what you have mentioned here. The Service is already Running and the Startup type is was already set to "Automatic". I also tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, restarting but no avail. If there's anything else i can try then please let me know. Thanks again.

No, no. I can connect on the same laptop via Linux running on a USB drive and rest of the devices can connect just fine as well. My apologies should've mentioned that earlier.

As a last resort you can try this:

    1. Right click the Start flag and select Settings
    2. Now select Network & Internet
    3. Under Advanced network settings click on Network reset
    4. You will get a warning telling you what will happen
    5. If you are OK with the warning click on Reset now
    6. You will get a confirmation dialog box, click Yes to confirm your choice.

What band(s) is your router working on? 2.4GHz / 5GHz, which channels? What make model is the Wifi Card in your problematic laptop? What Wifi version 4/5/6 i.e. 802.11n/ac/ax? I have experienced older 5GHz adaptors (Realtek chipsets) which do not "see "upper channels on 5GHz. Only channels 36-48. You may need to fix channels in your router rather then let them hop automatically.

Yes, because at that moment i had uninstalled the drivers. So they weren't there. Also i dunno how, but the problem seem to went away on it's own, the Laptop seemingly now connects just fine on my Home network.

The problem isn't with the Hardware or the Capability of the Wi-Fi card in the laptop or even the router's Band, because the Router is equipped with both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands and i have mentioned that i can connect to the same wifi network on Linux running on a USB Stick. Also for the moment the problem fixed it self yesterday when i turned on the laptop. So i can probably say that it was a Windows fault or maybe some Updates causes the issue. But seems to be fixed now so i'll just mark this post as resolved. But i'll open it again if the issue comes back.
Thank you everyone for your time :)
