The solution that worked for me (after two hours and a moron at Xfinity IT) was...

    1. Go to Network Connections in Control Panel
    2. Right-click on WiFi connection and choose Properties
3 Click on “Internet Protocol Version 4” and go to Properties
    4. Use the following DNS Server address and type “8.8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4” for the two servers.
5 Check box on for “Validate settings upon exit”

If it still doesn’t connect, try a reboot.

    Comcast DNS servers:
    75.75.75.75
    75.75.75.76

    Google Public DNS servers:
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

Your choice depends upon which you trust more Comcast or Google.

    Thanks, Amoco.

There are two threads regarding this issue on the Comcast Forums. The following thread was the first one I started in mid December. That thread has since been locked by Comcast so no one can post on it. But it had a lot of good info:
Re: Delayed Ethernet Connection - Xfinity Help and Support Forums - 3394865

After the above thread was locked, one of the users from the original thread started a new one, which is currently active. There is a lot of good info here, too:

Glad your XB7 resolved your issue. My Arris XB7 is still holding up, too. But it's worth noting that two users in the current thread have reported their Technicolor XB7 have the same delay issue. That's not good. It appears that both of these XB7 users got their XB7s BEFORE the problem popped up in early-mid December. Therefore, it's likely they are victims of whatever firmware push Comcast sent out in December that caused this problem. So it's not isolated to just XB6.

Anyway, you might want to follow/participate in the active Comcast thread if you start encountering the delay again with your XB7.

    Continued good luck!
I know its 2 and a half years later but I just noticed this problem. I have an XB7, I believe it is an Arris based on the vendor listing in the web portal

I tried editing the dns settings - does not help
