    Windows Cutting my Ethernet

Hi all grump old man here..

Well I have been using Windows since 95, I am not an expert, but not totally inept.

But FRANKLY I am sick and tired of fecking MS interfering in my MS OS and MY PC's.

I have over 5 in total of various ages from 12 years old to very latest 2020 with all the fast gear, mobo, GPU, CPU, SSD.

All run current W10x64, I am no longer an insider.

Anyway what is really pisXing me off, it appears that it make little difference what settings you have with "" Windows Security"" it will still intervene.

So my current issue is IF Windows does not like the URL I am connected in Chrome on Ethernet it will disconnect it and PC.
So I have to unplug Ethernet Cable on Desktop for about 5 seconds and plug it in again and I am connected.

I watch and stream from AU to US, EU and various Forums and Never had an issue up until 3 or 4 Cumulative W10 updates ago.

I am sick and tired of Searching and try this do that BS.
As for MS continuous updates and app updates and then Android with their APP updates, ....STOP!

Can anyone PLEASE suggest a fix for MS disconnecting Ethernet, and the same applies to wi-fi connection.
Sorry friends it is not my hardware.

    Thanks in Advance. FED UP!
If I could easily Jump to another platform I would like Linux,

I feel your pain and frustration. That said.......this is not normal
So my current issue is IF Windows does not like the URL I am connected in Chrome on Ethernet it will disconnect it and PC.
. If I had to guess, I'd sad it's a corrupt browser or browser extension. Which and uninstall of Chrome and fresh copy downloaded and installed usually fixes stuff like that. Or, the biggy, a trojan, mlaware, worm or bug of some kind in your system.

I had the same issue, when using Forticlient AV's webfilter.
Since you are using Windows, try to disable smartscreen.
If that does not help, try to temporarily disable Defender.
You can also try to install some free AV, just for testing.

    Thanks guys...

Sorry I call no to any Trogan or Virus, malware, done all that.

    Thanks TairikuOkami,

I thought I had all that off, but guess what it was on (app browser control).
Only one I keep on is "Real-time protection", all the others like Cloud delivery, Sample Submission and Tamper Protection is OFF and as we know every now and then M$ tries or warn you to turn it on, keep dismissing.

I am so fed up with this BS, it is NOT needed, I have never had a virus and I am careful what we do in 30 years.

All their spying bullshit, is exactly that they are doing is Data mining you, MS IS THE VIRUS!.

And the children @ MS are so bored they dream up all this BS and APPs and Updates that next to nobody use, unless you are under 25 maybe.

I am sick to death of their Control, they should give Users with some experience the Choice to Permanently turn off this crap.
Because most of the time IF you remove registry Keys and Turn off they interfere or this creates other drams.

I spend more time dealing with this crap than I do enjoying what I have, don't get me started on Insiders, again the children push out crap 'updates' without any serious evaluation Before they Release it.
I don't want my Phone synced or Contacts synced as an example.
One day they will go too far.

Anyway, thanks again for your help, I really do appreciate it, I have other health issues and i get fed up with having to deal with this. :)

Sorry to see that you are experiencing these problems with Windows. I have 4 windows 10 computers in my home and they are perform extremely well. Not seeing the problems that you are describing.

You do have other options. There are quite a number of Linux distros that you could try to see if they fit your particular needs any better. They have some pretty significant learning curves, but once you get the basics down they do run rather nicely. Truth be told, I'm a systems engineer and I do support WIndows and Linux systems for a living and have for 20+ years. So, my experience may be a little better than most.

I wish you luck in your endeavors.

You're going to work yourself into a tin-hat frenzy believing all that nonsense and FUD.

    Good luck.

How ironic and zero humour for a 'Guru '

    - - - Updated - - -

    Just another issue for help,
A few of my old Dell and Alienware (laptops) are not fast from cold boot, I notice MS are regularly checking device location...OK I get it and why...but..

Where I am located there appears to be huge 'MS live Location' inaccuracies between my 5 PC's on W10 in close proximity on same gigabyte LAN when I do a device check and location or 'find my device', every location confirmation on each PC performed one after the other on same MS account shows a different street or suburb, sometimes miles apart from the real position, or MS can just not find location.

There were location search issues on insider builds a few years ago, but any advice now or changes that could be done.

Why would my Dell Latitude EE5530 when I move to a friends place a used before hotspot to connect network, it will work for about 2-5 minutes and then see a location flash on task bar and then a network disconnect by windows, does it believe Laptop is stolen, I log on with password like we all do I even use 2FA from mobile.

Any work around, yes Location is not 100% accurate but when it says physical address is miles apart on same network from my real location?

    Any suggestion.

OK for the so called Gurus and helpers? :)

I have found the issue of MS Cutting my ethernet connect @ PC (s), usually once a day, sometimes more on a particular view.

Like many users I have and use multiple Browsers, Google Chrome always my first choice most of the time as Edge Chrome was until recently a POS when it came to Bookmarks or Favourites and how they were being saved/updated between my PC's (Same User, Same Account).

The issue of daily Ethernet disconnect (obviously on the PC device not at my Router) was during streaming via Google Browser from US to AU.
About 15 days ago I decided go to MS Edge Chrome for this exact same streaming from US to AU, and guess what not One Disconnect since.
So Clearly 'Gurus' for whatever reason interfering MS W10 does not like me using Google Chrome on this live stream feed.

Rotary, I'm wondering if your computers running Windows 10 would be better off running Windows 10 Professional. Ja, ja, it costs, however, I was told W10Pro has more user configuration choices than W10 nonPro. I remember, back when, starting my car by running my feet through the floorboard onto the street, I converted my Windows 7 Home something into Windows 7 Professional, it gave me more ability to tweak things under the hood.

Yep. Mine started doing the same thing after the May 2020 feature update. It's not just what site you're on... it's also time based, somehow. Like after so many weeks... Ethernet drops again.

It doesn't stay down for long and it's not ISP related. On top of that, I don't even use a router.

Verizon FIOS... never had this problem... ever.

I too, suspect Microsoft is causing this issue. (Firefox 84.0.2)
