I unchecked version 6 for both wireless and Ethernet. Still can't activate TOWER. But I don't know if I needed to reboot. I will reboot now anyway.

When you connect by name you are not getting the connection details direct from TOWER, you are getting them from whichever PC is currently acting as the Master Browser.

Rebooting all PCs will reset the Master Browser, it may take a little while for all PCs to reappear on the network while the Master Browser collects the information.

    OK.

    - - - Updated - - -

I shut down all PCs and the router - and restarted.

    Desktop Win10: same as before:

Laptop Win10: "TOWER" is gone. The IP label is still there and active. Where it used to use the name, it now uses the IP number.

You can connect from both the desktop and laptop by IP address, so you can work that way for now.

The issue of connecting by name, or seeing the name in the network is down to the way the Master Browser is behaving. I have put out a request for other who may be able to help to have a look at this thread.
