Internet Speed Issue

Hello Everyone,

From the past few months, I am facing Internet speed drop issue. Already changed my router, still no luck. One thing that I have noticed is when I disconnect my laptop from wifi and then re-connect speed becomes good. So, is there any issue with my laptop? Would like to know if this is true.

A wired connection is faster than a wireless connection.

It's possible you are either getting interference, or the channels you use are crowded.

Some things to check on your router config.

Before making any changes, write down or screenshot your current settings.

If you are using auto channel select, try using channel 1, 6, or 11 for 2.4 Ghz, and 153 (if you're in the U.S.) for 5 Ghz.

Using a WiFi analyzer can show you who is using what channels in your area, your signal strength, and your signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)...

Wireless Security should be using WPA2-Personal with AES encryption.

Select NG-Mixed for 2.4 Ghz and AC/N-Mixed for 5 Ghz if it's available on your router.

WMM should be turned on for both bands, and try the Beacon Interval at 100 and RTS Threshold at 2346.

Reboot the router and test your wireless connections.

Think of the last thing you did before you had that issue. Maybe it affected your wifi performance.

To give you an example, one time I installed a 2.4Ghz wireless camera in one of the rooms here at home as a security camera. From then on, I noticed that my wifi connection keeps dropping randomly. So, I removed the camera and everything went back to normal. Wireless devices sometimes clash against each other and cancels one or the other. It can also be a bluetooth device.

Sometimes, resetting your wifi connection due to IP conflict issue can also help fix the problem. On your laptop, disconnect and forget the wifi network. Restart your computer and try to connect again.

I remember disabling my webcam (for certain reasons). But yesterday only, I did clean install of my OS. This problem should have been solved after this, but no luck.

Have a look, I did it. Can't actually understand it.

p.s - Talked to my ISP, he said there is no issue from their end or my router. It's just my Laptop, internet working fine on my phone too.

No idea about - auto channel select and already did restart router thing, no luck.

Signal quality looks good, but that is one point in time.

Run the analyzer the next time the connection slows down.

Will try that too, just bought an adapter to catch 5ghz signals. It is doing its work and Speedtest is showing 70+mbps speed, but when downloading torrents, speed is still fluctuating. Probably a hardware issue.
