Issue with Miracast, need support and help

Hello Dear members, I am new here ...
I have one Desktop-PC and one notebook in work, I would like to use wireless projecting- Miracast, Miracast works on notebook and everything is workable, so I would like to share my notebook screen to PC, so notebook will sharing screen and PC desktop will connect to this wireless screen. But main issue I have with desktop PC, graphic card support Miracast- check by DxDiag, but I dont see the option to connect wireless display as i showen here in turtorial (also on picture below):
Connect to Wireless Display with Miracast in Windows 10

second I check that the features display wireless is not installed on desktop PC as is showen here (as showen on picture below):
Install or Uninstall Connect Wireless Display Feature in Windows 10
when I will add new features I cant find this features: wireless display, so I cant install it BUT on notebook same- features is not installed and is not possible to install same as on PC desktop but Miracast work without any problem so it will be not problem...

then I check everything, sharing the files is allowed on both PCs, notebook is connected by wifi and PC desktop by ethernet LAN cable in same netwrok- work network becuase both PCs are for business and used in company, on PC desktop is allowed projecting following this instructions
Enable or Disable Projecting to this PC in Windows 10

    then I check
Control Panel -> Network & Internet -> Network & Sharing Center ->Media Streaming Options: On local network, all Miracast devices are found, and they are checked for "Allowed". Checking custom settings, all ratings & content are allowed.

Version of desktop PC is Win 10 enterprise after 1836

I have set up Settings, System, Projecting on notebook is allowed but on PCs not- there is written that PCs does not support Miracast...

I have checked that I have the app Connect installed on both computers & have run it. But when I run on PC desktop, again I get notofication that device does not support technology Miracast

Graphic Card has newest driver, all drivers are up to date,

but what I see that can be issue is missing wireless adapter in PC desktop, it is reasonable, because PC desktop cant connect to wifi there is no wifi card, so should I install the wireless wifi adapter ? or use external wifi adapter? becuase when I check WLAN driver supports Miracast: Start -> Run -> cmd -> " netsh wlan show drivers " ... I see only: Autoconfig for WLAN adapter is not running
So for me it could be the main issue that Miracast doesnt work because can connect by wireless adapter? what I should do please? could you get me some more advices?
    thank you.

You need WIFI on both devices for Miracast to work - Miracast uses WIFI Direct. It'll work just fine with an external USB adapter as long as it supports WIFI Direct. I have a Realtek 8811CU 802.11AC USB WIFI adapter that I purchased for around $7 USD and it works with Miracast/WIFI Direct with Windows 10 1903.

Thank you very much for your answer, but if I understand correct WIFI adapter must be connected and installed but PC desktop could be connect to LAN? I know that after 1803 WIN 10 made new update to Miracast that work with combination wifi and ethernet but it must be in one network. Same do some men in this video also notebook is on wifi but pc desktop on lan ethernet cable...so it is not necessary to connect both device to wifi?

You need a WiFi Card/adapter or WiFi dongle that specifically supports Miracast, not just WiFi Direct.

In that video he says "most" modern Laptops, but not all will support Miracast, though they will have Wireless cards.
He was going from PC > network cable > WAP > Laptop.

That also means the PC network card, Router and WAP must also be Miracast capable.

"It'll work just fine with an external USB adapter as long as it supports WIFI Direct."
That is not true, it has to specifically support Miracast. WiFi Direct is not sufficient as many WiFi Cards/Dongles support WiFi Direct but not Miracast.
The Laptop I am using now does not support Miracast, though it does support WiFi Direct.

Hello Helmut, thank you very much for your explanation. Now I am understand how it is work, but what about Miracast over Infrastructure Connection Establishment Protocol and how it could be turn or configure ?
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ope...6-70401bb10bdb
    There is explanation:
"The Miracast over Infrastructure Connection Establishment Protocol specifies a connection negotiation sequence used to connect, indicate readiness to connect, and disconnect from a Miracast over Infrastructure endpoint. This protocol also specifies the Miracast over Infrastructure Information Element (IE), which helps identify Miracast receivers (sinks) that can support a Miracast session over an infrastructure link (as opposed to a Wi-Fi Direct link)."

So my notebook support Miracast and works good with this app, problem is only desktop PC which could not connect to any wireless device and accept the wireless connection but support Miracast... I am sure.... so both device support Miracast, notebook share screen without any problem, problem is only with desktop PC which could not connect to notebook and use the screen of notebook as second screen, so what you recommend please? Buy wifi dongle support Miracast? In this video, he used a modem or wifi router and notebook si connected to wifi and PC desktop is connected to modem by LAN cable? because in my work is same network it is big company so there is no any small modems but WIFI and LAN is in same network...
    1. connect PC by ethernet connection to network- instead of all option mentioned up, should I set up someting more in PC desktop?
    2. connect WIFI donge to PC desktop and turn on the wifi adapter only? PC will be still connected by LAN cable
3.notebook will be connected to wifi, share the screen, PC desktop should has the option to connect wireless device...
    4. I can do a test, I will make mobile hotspot and connect PC and notebook to same wifi, then I will see if the option will work...

But Miracast support requires the driver to be NDIS version 6.3 or higher. So what wifi dongle/adapter could work? Realtek 8811CU 802.11AC should work without any problem...

Miracast is not a function of the network adapter but the OS/Device itself. For Windows 10 you need a WDDM 2.0 compatible display and a WDI compatible network adapter. Your router doesn't need to be certified for anything since WIFI direct is peer-to-peer bypassing your router altogether.

It's highly unlikely that a WIFI adapter that supports WIFI direct won't work with Miracast. It's more likely a driver or display issue.

Hello Clippy , thank you very much, so with dxdiag I can check the model of display. Regarding the desktop PC, it is also important wich monitor is used? or the important is the graphic or display card support Miracast and there must be WDDM 2.0 becuase I read some where that it could be at least 1.3. I checked my old ext. wifi dongle and with command Get-NetAdapter | Select Name, NdisVersion I check NDIS version, it should be at least 6.3 and my bult wifi is 6.4 but my old wifi dongle only 6.2, so I will buy new wifi dongle and use it for connecting to desktop and try to use... how to check if wifi adapter is WDI compatible? it means same as NDIS?

As long as your Graphics card supports Miracast you're halfway there. WDI compatible means the drivers are made for Windows 10's Wireless Driver Interface. If the manufacturer has drivers for Windows 10 you are good to go. Older adapters (802.11a/b/g) probably won't work.

Here is the adapter I purchased (I now own 3 of them, work perfectly with Windows 10/Miracast, Windows 7 and yes, an old Windows XP laptop I have). It is based on the Realtek 8811CU 802.11AC chipset. I am very satisfied with this device because it performs well and you can't beat the price. It comes with a mini-CD with the drivers. You run the setup and once it completes the install just plug it in. The antenna is detachable.

There may be other vendors that sell this so do a search. Just make sure it is identical. Amazon also carries this but for a higher price.

Of course if any one else here has any other USB WIFI adapters they have purchased that work with Windows 10/Miracast please share your experiences so AndrejF can make an informed purchase.

    EDIT:
By the way if you're worried about whether you need to have a brand-new graphics card for Miracast to work here's something to consider: the PC I have Windows 10 1903 on is a Dell Inspiron Zino HD400. The graphics card is on-board Radeon HD3200 with shared memory (not even CLOSE to matching anything in the RX series) and it supports Miracast. The drivers are from Microsoft because Dell only has drivers for Windows 7 for this PC.

Clippy thank you very much for your explanation and advices what wireless dongle I should buy. I will order same as you sent me link. It looks very good. Clippy do you have notebook and PC connected in wifi? or notebook is connected to wifi and PC is connected by ethernet cable?

Today I checked everything what can influence the Miracast. Again notebook is connected to WIFI company, no problem with Miracast. PC desktop support Miracast, graphic card support Miracast, only problem is missing wlan wifi adapter, if I use my old adpater I see this (see picture from cmd) report. SO I hope this is the main probem why I do not see "connect to the wireless device" as option in actions-- projecting.

So summary I checked on desktop PC (hope it will helps to other members who fi.ght with Miracast), so agian main issue is missing option "connect to wireless display" and after manualy click connect: "Miracast is not supported"
    1. graphic adapter is supported and up to date, OK
    2. command Get-NetAdapter | Select Name, NdisVersion show me that Etherner is 6.4 NDIS version and Ethernet 3 is 6.2 version, but why there is also Ethernet 3, it is some old additional port used before on my desktop PC? because main port should be Ethernet I think, maybe I will update Realtek PCIe GBE / 2.5G Family Controller adapter for ethernet connection...maybe OK
    3. I check group policy- projecting should be allowed, group policy is same set for notebook and PC desktop in company- so it is ok becuase on notebook works Miracast..... OK
    4. Using the DxDiag check display adapter should be minimum WDDM 1.3 , my is 2.1, so OK
    5. the monitor of PC desktop has some role in Miracast? I think no, so OK
    6. check netsh wlan show driver and see that wireless display not supported, so I hope this is issue which hide me function in actions- project- connect to wireless display, so buy external adapter support what Clippy mentioned... hope it will resolve the issue
    7. checked version of WIN 10, it should be after 17... OK
    8. checked Apps & features, IF there is installed Wireless Display Features, in my case it is not installed, and not possible to add this type of features, I dont see this features if I choose add new features- same on notebook so I hope it is no problem because Miracast work on ntb... hope OK
    9. checked Control Panel -> Network & Internet -> Network & Sharing Center ->Media Streaming Options: On local network, all Miracast devices are found, and they are checked for "Allowed". Checking custom settings, all ratings & content are allowed. OK
    10. Check Applied GPO: gpresult /h:c:\temp\gpo.html ... Nothing in the results for "Prevent Connection to Ad-Hoc Networks"
there is option to disable wifi direct (it should be unmarked) and prevent the AD-HOC (should be unmarked) OK
    11. checked win+r and services.msc and autoconfig wlan should be set on automatic and running OK

If everything is OK, it is necessary to try it without firewall and antivirus, because it could be blocked by antivirus

So I checked everything and what is not OK I will resolve, my last question is it is company PC desktop so it should be connected by ethernet connection, notebook will be connected by WIFI (could be also connect by ethernet) but both device will be in same comapny network, in this network is also data projectors and other devices and from notebook is no problem to connect to them, so will be Miracast work if I use device notebook connected to wifi and device desktop connected to ethernet in same network ? Sure all points up must be resolved.- I hope yes because of new update of Miracast- Miracast over Infrastructure Connection Establishment Protocol but I dont know if it need to be configure.
    Thank you
