    Modem activity light blinking continuously

Suddenly the modem / router activity light is blinking continuously even without any network / internet traffic (when the computer is on of course)

The Modem / router is an Arris

I found this a few days ago in reliability history, anything to do with it?
Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update: SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. - Modem - 2.16.14.0

    Winver 2004 (19041.572)

It can be so many things. Does the HDD led also blinks?
Does your Router has encryption (WPA or WAP2 - PSK)?

WU can be analyzing your computer to see if you need any update.
It can also be downloading Ver 2010 (2004 h2)

Its for 3 days now and it's just with one computer, the other one's who are connected on the same router does not have this behavior.

It just keeps blinking even when HDD and network activity is none. It's not a big deal but the router is right in front of my face so a little bit annoying.

    Yes WAP2

For a security on a second level, I have enabled MAC address filter on my router.
You have to enter the MAC address of every device to be allowed. Not difficult to do.
If it's not on the list, even if you have the correct password, access will be denied.

My DNS server logs all activity on my network and after 4 years of logs I can tell you that computers love to chat to each other and call home regularly, Not even a minute will go by without Windows doing something on the network.

Not only will Windows be doing something on the network but every so often your router will query all devices and be looking for new devices on your network.

Here is my activity for about the last 20 hours, Can you tell what time I went to bed and stopped using my computer

It's almost impossible to tell but I went to bed at about 2am and did not start using it again till about 12.

PS:I have two computers and an Android phone and my DNS server that all run 24/7

Honestly looks like a driver for tethering a Samsung smartphone.

I got the same "Modem" entry in my Windows Update history on system one.
Apparently, it's because I keep my Samsung Galaxy S10+ plugged in.

Yes, most likely it's for my Samsung I plugged in a few days ago, so that got nothing to do with the strange router blinking light.
Anyway, let's see maybe it's normal again after the next update.

Right click on taskbar and choose task manager. Go to performance tab then click on open resource monitor at the bottom. Click on network and you can watch what accesses the internet.

Thanks that was a good advice, and I figured out GMail is the trouble maker
