Using multiple DNS providers at the same time?

    Not sure where to post.

I need some technical assistance please.

Are there any conflicts/issues that can happen if I have DNS over HTTPS enabled in AdGuard for Windows, and in the browser settings in Firefox/Chrome at the same time? I just recently decided to try DoH through AdGuard, but I don't know if I need/should disable it in the browsers. I have them all set to the same provider, so I'm thinking it's just the same to leave them all enabled. Double protection right? Like one would be a fallback in case the other isn't working at the moment? Am I wrong?

Also what would happen if two different providers were used (Cloudflare and GoogleDNS)? I'm sure one overrides the other, and I'm thinking AdGuard would have the last say since it's at the computer level, and not a browser option. So whatever AdGuard is using is what all traffic will be routed though. Right?

The main dns set on the pc is used unless it fails then it goes to the second dns if set

I'd set it on the router and let the PC's get it automatically, rather than set it individually on all devices.

    Not true:

I run two DNS servers on my local network (pihole) and although the primary DNS server takes the brunt of traffic the secondary takes about 10 percent of the traffic daily.

I am not the only person who has noticed this and it's not only Windows OS's that behave like this Linux also does the same thing.

also if your secondary DNS server has a consistent faster reply than the primary server Windows (and Linux) will prefer the secondary, This is why if I was to recommend what DNS server people should use I would suggest using two different providers.
    EG:
    Primary 8.8.8.8 # Google
    Secondary 1.1.1.1 # Cloudflare

That way Windows will eventually figure out the fastest, But the best thing to do is to find out what server is closest to you with either Google search or some program like DNS bench test.
