Suddenly Can't upload photos from phone

Help please... I've always been able to plug my Samsung phone into my PC and transfer photos. Now suddenly I get the message

"We're having trouble connecting - make sure your device is unlocked and that you accept the notification to connect"

I've looked at everything and can't figure out what the problem is. Both wifi links are the same and phone is unlocked. Have used the Photos link and tried to import from there and I get the same message.

Hope someone can steer me in the right direction. Phone is Samsung SM-J320A Windows version 10.0.19041

Looking at the specs I see it has Bluetooth [short-range wireless] but the computer also has to have a Bluetooth adapter [most desktops don't but adapters are inexpensive]. It also has Wireless Direct and Wi-Fi 802.11n and USB 2. I'd try the USB cable, usually same as for charging from a computer, but assure it's plugged into a USB 2 port, may not work properly in a USB 3. I had the same issue with a client last week and the solution that worked was the cable. I think the Wireless Direct is more for connecting to a printer.

Thank you. Will purchase new cable and give it a try. The port I use has worked for a long time...just stopped a few days ago.

That does suggest the same issue I had with a client and his printer with a Windows update, gives an issue with USB access. So far Upgrading from Version 1903 or 1909 to Version 2004 has worked, latest is Build 19041.508.

Forgive me for being a novice but is that the latest Windows 10 update? My PC is set for auto updates.

As of today it's the latest for my computers, doing a Notebook now that hadn't been used since July 18.

I've recently had problems with my Samsung phone that's USB plugged into my desktop. This appeared after my latest update to 2004 19041.508.

Soon after, Samsung sent out updates to it's USB drivers. It may be you have one under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > 'View optional updates' *** > Driver updates

*** Can be found right under the [ Check for updates ] button.

That might work, or it's possible this new update broke it.

You can check Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > View update history > Driver Updates

I found I had to 'Uninstall' the device and drivers from Device Manager. and let it reinstall all the drivers again.

In Device Manager under 'View' select 'Show hidden devices'

    Uninstall all entries of:

    Portable Devices > '<Your Phone Name>'
Modem > 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem'
Network adapters > 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device'
Universal Serial Bus controllers > 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device'

    Then Reboot

Then cable the phone to the PC again and you should see it installing the Samsung suite of USB drivers again.

Anyway, that's what I had to do to get my working again.

Well the driver updates are installed, I purchased a new cable and same story....nada. Guess I will give Uninstall suggestion a try...intimidating however. I noticed too that there wasn't a Network adaptor labeled Samsung to uninstall so that baffles me.

Need to take a short brake and get my nerve up. Wish me luck.

Farvatten I uninstalled all the Samsung devices you listed (no network adapter was show however) rebooted, plugged in the phone, did not see any items being installed but the same items I uninstalled were under device manager.

I still got the same error message....

    Very frustrated....

This may be coincidental or maybe not. I have Windows Update disabled and use a third-party app to download updates and/or driver files of my choosing.

Recently, I've been offered and installed 3 Samsung related drivers. I have used Samsung's SmartSwitch to backup my Samsung A8 phone for a couple of years and now suddenly the process is all messed up.

As previously mentioned, you might want to look in your Windows Update History and see if you have the following 3 Samsung driver files recently installed. Check to see if the installation dates coincide with your grief.

I'm still able to access pics from my phone using Windows File Explorer. How are you attempting this Barnum?

I have the two drivers from the 29th installed but not the one from the 25th? Can't find it either...<br>

I have tried file explorer and everything else under the sun and still get the same message. Actually under file explorer it says <strong>"this device has either stopped working or is disconnected"</strong>
