    Configuring a new router

    I am currently using a Linksys E2500 router behind my cable modem and everything is working.

    I'm going to get a new router (Asus wifi 6 capable router) that I will use to eventually replace the Linksys E2500.

    My question is as follows;

    Can I connect the new Asus router to a lan port on my existing E2500 and configure the new Asus router with the same or similar settings as the E2500? I would then disconnect the E2500 router from the modem, and connect the new Asus router to the cable modem.

    Thoughts and recommendations please.

    Thanks

    No you need to connect it to the modem in order to set it up the settings will all be different normally it's simple setup ISP password etc and it should work you can then setup wireless and change any other settings. Windows will see it as a new network and you need to set as home
