Why are my TV's showing up in Network?
When my TV is on and I click Network in Windows Explorer, The TV shows up under Media Devices and Other Devices.
What is the purpose of this. Click on them just shows their Properties.

Thanks! All these years and I didn't know I could do that. I had to mess around with it for a while, but I finally got it to work
I wonder how sophisticated it is. If I can download a movie and put it in the video file, Would I get Dolby Digital surround sound?
If you open the file with Windows Movie and TV and use the "cast to" it plays Dolby surround on my system.
Last night I downloaded a Star Trek trailer from YT, saved it to the video file and cast it to the TV. It didn't trigger digital surround in my sound system. I don't know if it wasn't surround to begin with, or if the digital sound encoding was lost in YT or the casting. I don't suppose I can cast a streaming video? I just got AT&T fiber with 1GB internet and VOIP phone. It came with HBOmax. Do you know of a way to cast (or download) movies from the HBOmax web site?
That depends. The 'Cast to device...' that you have tested uses DLNA, supported by most Smart TVs and all W10 PCs.
If your PC and TV both support Miracast then you can cast media from Edge to the TV. You can also mirror your PC's display to a Miracast device. My TV doesn't have Miracast so I haven't been able to test that with my TV.
