If my memory serves me well @ 69years, I tried mapping a drive once when using 2 Win7 computers and it never worked.

Network discovery must be turned on to access network shares by their NetBIOS name. You need to access the share using the IP address.

This is how things used to be.

Here I could click WDTV Live and get access to my files if the WDTV drive was On or Off using both my old Win7 computers.

This is what I get after Mapping my drive when its not On. If it Is On I still don't get access to my files.
Both images done on Win10 Laptop.

Not sure if this applies or not...but do you have SMB v1 activated?

Enable or Disable SMB1 File Sharing Protocol in Windows

I have never heard of SMB1 but the good news is, I fixed it.
The drive is connected to my Network Wirelessly, and to my TV using an HDMI cable.
I have tried to get an answer on other forums plus searching Google.
My last bit of info was to turn off password sharing in all Networks in Win10. It worked.
I then did the same on my Win7 32bit PC before posting this, it also worked.
I am now on my Win10 pc a few hours after disabling password sharing, I tried to access my drive but it failed.
Half way through printing this post, I tried it again and it now works. Must be some sort of delayed action.
    Thank for trying iko22.
