    VPN Choice?

Due to renew my ExpressVPN subscription but I'm open to trying something different
What VPN software is everyone using and why?

    Hi folks

not sure why you need a private (not Work) VPN unless to bypass regional blocks in some countries -- IMO using TOR is a much better way to deal with that problem.

The other way of course is to host your own domain --these can be bought very cheaply.

If you want a "Classical" VPN just to be able to access stuff from your desktop on a remote computer --openvpn is good on your own machine.

    Cheers

Looked at OpenVPN but it doesn't support split tunnelling for Windows which is a deal breaker for me, good app and priced well too though

    Hi there
Can't you use Putty for tunelling --or have I mis-understood the problem.

As for commercial VPN's --NordVPN seems to have adverts everywhere you look on the Internet --annoyingly so -- but it obviously must have a lot of users.

We use Pure VPN. Let's you choose lots of servers in lots of countries. We use it to watch blocked TV streams from the UK.

PrivateInternetAccess (PIA). I use them because they have been successfully battle tested many times not to log what users do on their service (Private Internet Access' "No-Logging" Claims Proven True Again in Court * TorrentFreak) plus I was looking for fast access on my Gigabit broadband. They fit the bill on both. Of course, as they get more popular, they'll need to add capacity - which they are - the question remains whether they will add it fast enough in order to retain that high speed but there you go.

    TOR / KODI -- why pay !!!

Plenty of proper uses for VPNs but if you just want to get round UK's draconian blocking laws -- why pay the Chinese (particularly who provide a lot of the infrastructure for these things) -- ( U.K system makes N.Korea seem Free !!) just use the tools I've set out. How to do it though is beyond the remit of the forum but it's very simple.
