Laptop Intel ax200 wouldn't connect to any mobile hotspot -Hell Corner

Like the title suggests I have a laptop with an intel ax200 WiFi card on latest driver . Now ever since the w10 2004 update and I can't connect to any hotspot shared by an android mobile (which is my method of connectivity when on the move) .

It would connect to dedicated modem routers just fine .

I tried what the Internet had to say , forget any saved network , change network name , reset network cards through troubleshooter , try different drivers , enable disable card , commands to reset dns and winsock , still all I get is : unable to connect to this network .

Any body is having this too or have any extra suggestions ?

I'm on the move and this is very frustrating ...

    --Update--

Basically after further testing I realize that Intel ax200 card would not connect to wireless single band 802.11n on the 2.4GHz in its auto state , the 2.4 GHz single band 802.11n access points is the default in the majority of phones where only lately they are defaulting to the single band 5GHz ones which works fine with the ax200 .

With further digging on all the Intel pages it comes to my knowledge that Intel lives in Lala land unlike Realteck and nothing runs auto on which , further tweaking have to be made to make the card connect to a mobile wireless 802.11n on the 2.4GHz on both the mobile access point and the pc and these are :

1 - Intel recommends narrow channels on access points (1~6) so basically that leaves us with 5 and 6 because the others usually have very high interference :

    * All Android Access Points come prefixed to Auto select channel , where you have to go advanced and prefix one on your own , let that be 5 .

2 - Now on the Advanced tab of the driver's Properties in Device Manager these choices have to be made :

    * 802.11n/ac/ax Wireless Modes : 2. 802.11n
    * Chanel Width for 2.4 GHz : 20 MHz only
    * Chanel Width for 5 GHz : 20 MHz only
    * MIMO Power Save Mode : No SMPS

The rest can be left to defaults .

I really dunno if I had those settings previously on here before the driver update I had along with the Windows 2004 feature update or maybe an older version of the driver did not have us to go through all these hassles , but this is how you set that miserable supposed to be cutting edge card to connect to a mobile access point .

    So there you go .

    Cheers

    1. Try turning off bluetooth on the Intel adapter sometimes interferes with the hotspot tether
    2. Disable AV and firewall - only of course for testing purposes.
If that works check if your protection setup allows whitelisting of mobile hotspot
    3. Check drivers installed for Intel are
    Downloads for Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (Gig+)
and not some other version that Microsoft has installed.

Tried all these but still nothing . By the way I highly doubt it's version 2004 . I never had that before it . I even wonder how it can distinguish between a mobile access point and a router !

I do not quite follow the point your are making here

    I thought you said
Now ever since the w10 2004 update and I can't connect to any hotspot shared by an android mobile
meaning you could hotspot before the 2004 update

    Could you please explain

I meant I believe windows build 2004 is the reason . I am sorry I am using phone to text . Even the driver was the same and working pre moving to this version .

I have dug out a hard drive with build 1809 it still won't connect to mobiles access points . Now I'm clueless . Could it be intel deprecating connections to wireless N ?

    I very much doubt it
I consider it likely to be a software issue
Either by way of driver or other software
Will the Android phone bluetooth to the laptop

interesting that you asked , i am now testing with the bluetooth too and it seems to be having an issue as well , on attempting "Receive a File" I get the message stating :
Laoptop with Intel ax200 would not connect to any mobile hotspot-annotation-2020-07-25-010016.jpg
right now i am trying usb tethering which is working but known to destroy the phone battery in prolonged use which is my case .

    It is a puzzle
Were it to be me I would tend to go for a usb wireless adapter
IMHO these Intel cards and I do appreciate yours is one of the new type 2018 I think, have always proved to be problematic.
Some of the USB adapters are really small these days as you probably know
    I have recently bought
    TL-WN725N | 150Mbps Wireless N Nano USB Adapter | TP-Link United Kingdom

HOWEVER I use that on a desktop to connect to my modem/router but I see now reason why it would not see the phone hotspot

ALTERNATIVELY first why not try a windows repair as here
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

The reason I am suggesting that is - the now revealed bluetooth problem

I just used windows all in on repair portable tool and set it to fix network , firewall , permissions , windows services and that sorted the bluetooth problem , now still as i attempted to connect to the mobile access point it was a no go .

during this time i have been reading articles that really disclose that the ax200 card may have issues with the n routers that they even have a dedicated page on intel to set the driver to certain settings for it to work , the funny thing is , i never had that , then one fine morning its there , its not like it was always that way , my next bus stop is seeing if it will connect to a phone that has a 5 ghz access point , where it'd be obvious that its support to n/2.4 ghz standard is vanilla .
