    Bluetooth fails to connect anything

My long drawn out and failed struggle to get YourPhone to connect my phone to my PC has revealed the underlying problem: Bluetooth is not working at all, on my PC. It probably has not worked for many months. I cannot connect anything. In addition to the phone I have tried two keyboards, a Samsung tablet, earbuds ---- no success at all. Plus I found that everywhere Bluetooth is shown on the PC it reported as not available, not connected, not enabled, off, stopped --- in Action Centre, in Settings, Services, Network Connections. I have read lengthy articles on this website and elsewhere but am no wiser. So now I am looking for advice with getting BT back, it has worked OK in the past. I have tried many things so far, using trial and error, so some fixes can probably be eliminated.

I have checked all the Bluetooth drivers which are 'the best available'. I found in Services that Bluetooth Support and Bluetooth User Support are most of the time shown as stopped. I have found how to switch them to Automatic but they then appear as either Automatic (Trigger Start) or Manual (Trigger Start) or revert to stopped, so I presume something needs to be done here? In Control Panel Network Connections Bluetooth / Change Adapter Settings / Bluetooth Network is shown as not connected and I have not found how to change it. In Settings I managed to get the phone paired by doing it from the phone itself but it still does not connect. Sometimes a popup request on the phone asks for a code number which should be shown in the phone but usually it isn't, or on occasion if it is it is rejected. None of the other Bluetooth devices are listed in Settings. It is all utterly confusing so I hope someone can make sense of it.

    Try running the Bluetooth Troubleshooter.

    Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Bluetooth.

I ran the Troubleshooter a while back. As usual it was no help, but I wili try it again. In Settings the PC is shown as 'discoverable' and the phone is shown as paired (with a remove button) so it is not a total blank, but there is nothing else. A nearby Tablet is not detected.

Some progress at last. I have got Bluetooth working but not properly with YourPhone. I have connected OK with a BT speaker and a keyboard. The phone is connected sort of but all I am getting is some stuff months old, a couple of photos and old messages. I suspect this is due to not so far being able to get Notifications to sync. I followed the rather confusing instruction which is displayed in YourPhone but may not be getting it right, it does not seem to entirely make sense and tells me to clicj Allow, which I have not seen displayed anywhere. As far as I can tell every permission is granted.

Bluetooth fails to connect anything-image.pngThis snip is where I am stuck. I think the problem is not now Bluetooth but with the management of Notifications on the phone (but see below). I have switched some things (such battery optimisation in the background) and a number of Settings for Notifications interaction with the phone but am not sure if I have it right, as I get confused over whether switches being on or off (what I call the double negative problem). However, I have tried switching both on and off without solving the problem, which is that I do not get Notifications or Phoning on YourPhone.

My reservation about a problem still persisting with Bluetooth is because of what is shown (every time) in Control Panel >>>> Change Adapter Settings. Not only is BT shown as not connected there, I also see a yellow triangle icon against "Bluetooth device will see the name of this PC".

Regarding the Tutorial. I have followed the Tutorial about turning Notifications on, provided by Brink. Neither method described has worked. (1) In Settings in the YourPhone app on the PC it is set to 'ON'. (2) In Settings on my Android's Phone Companion app Notifications are not listed, as one of the available Settings.
