Well, I've now tested WiFi in Safe Mode in version 2004 on three quite different machines. This is from the System One in my specs below, in fact I'm in Safe Mode as I post this...



The other two machines I have successfully tested for WiFi in Safe Mode were a Dell Latitude E4310 shown working here and has this WiFi adapter:



And an old Acer Aspire One AOD270 netbook with x86 2004 and this WiFi card...



So far I haven't found any machine running 2004 (19041.329 or 19042.331) that has any problem with WiFi in Safe Mode.

And so, gentleman, the making of my point: works on one, but not another. Figure out why that is. Confirming it works on some machines does not answer why it doesn't on others. This thread has documented multiples of both situations, but no answers to why that is.

True, but so far it's worked first time on every machine I've tried. It may help to narrow down why it doesn't work on yours if we had more details. Is it the HP in your specs? If so, what WiFi card does it have and which driver is installed? What build of Windows do you have?

Yes, sir, it is in the specs. And I posted pics a few posts back that show the card and the drivers.

I'll just throw a note in here: Frankly, for the most part, I don't really care that the WiFi doesn't work in Safe Mode. But a request by a person trying to help me in another thread asked me to leave it in Safe Mode to see if the problems happens. But w/o Internet access, I can't do that. The problem from the other thread has been long going, and very strange, so I'd like to accommodate that request.

Yes I get the code 37 on my desktop. I'm not sure if my laptop has a code 37.

Thanks @Bree. It does seem, based on your research, that it's related to the card.

I do have the latest driver. I will download an older one.

I hope you have better luck than I did. My 8260 is in a Dell, and on their support site they have both the newest (2020) and their oldest (2017) drivers available to download. I've tried both and they still have Code 37 in Safe Mode. I've now used Macrium to retore the machine back to using the 2019 Intel driver that Microsoft supplied through windows update.

It is interesting how out of work on some computers and not others. Hello during my past IT life we would find situations like this ever so often.
