    Thanks Bree.

It is interesting how out of work on some computers and not others. Hello during my past IT life we would find situations like this ever so often.

I will post back with the results.
I hope a solution can be found. My desktop uses the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168. I went to the Intel site last night and updated the driver to the latest driver version 19.51.29.1. My laptop uses the Realtec RTL8821CE 80211ac PCIe adapter and the driver version 2024.0.10.209. Neither one will work in Safe Mode. I haven't tried my other computers to see if they work.

Similar debate here, with people again wanting to blame MS for disabling this.
internal wifi adapter shows error code 37 in safe mode with networking - Internal Hardware

Not working in Safe Mode- in 1903. Various other examples given with later builds.
wifi adapter is a qualcomm atheros qca9377
An approach here that is said in some cases to restore Wi-fi in Safe Mode with Networking: but certainly no kind of 'fix'.

I tried those suggestions when I first noticed this problem. As for choosing the wireless network before logging in, My only option is Airplane Mode.

Tried that too on my one machine that has this problem - with the same result as you. That article was written in Dec. 2015, it was probably a useful workaround back then for a bug in 1511 that seems to have been fixed by now.

Currently posting using Safe Mode with Networking using WiFi.

I plugged in an external USB 5 Ghz WiFi adapter, and it worked.

The internal 2.4 Ghz will not, except in "standard mode".

It would be nice to find a solution. One never knows when using Safe Mode with wireless network will help solve a problem. Seeing how it works with some wireless adapters I'm thinking it's something in the drivers that is causing the problem. I would buy a inexpensive USB adapter if I knew which one would work.

Do you know what USB wireless adapter you are using?

Edit: I was just looking in Amazon and they have a nice selection for under $20.00. Some are even under $10.00.

Well oldnavyguy knows at least one that works .

As for internal cards, my posts #31 and #37 show four different WLAN mini-cards shown to be working.
