How do I disable the 'Enter Network Credentials' screen

Ever since Homegroup was discontinued I have been having network sharing problems. I have a desktop and laptop both cabled to a router. From Explorer/network I cannot see the desktop from the laptop.

But the first problem is how do I disable the "Enter Network Credentials" screen. From both computers it always asks for my user name and password when I double click on a computer in Explorer/network.

I have disabled and turned off "Credential Manager" in Computer Management/Services on both computers but that didn't help. I'm running Windows 10 1909.

Re-enable the Credential Manager service.

Create matching user id's and passwords on each system.

In Network and Sharing Center -

Private profile -

Turn on Network Discovery
Turn on File and Printer Sharing

Guest or Public -

Everything turned off

All networks -

Turn off Public Folder Sharing
Turn on 128-bit Encryption
Turn on Password Protected Sharing

There is a known issue with Windows 10 not being able to see other systems on the network.

I did the following on each system to fix it on our LAN -

1. Created a batch file called FDResPub.bat that contains two lines -

net stop FDResPub
net start FDResPub

2. Created a task to run the batch file at system startup in Task Scheduler.

I'm not sure what my existing user id and passwords are. How do I go about setting new ones?

Two ways to handle Shared Folders on other computers.

First -

1. Right-click on the folder you want to share.

2. Select Give access to, then Advanced sharing...

3. Click the Advanced sharing button.

4. Check Share this folder.

5. Click the Permissions button.

6. Select the users you want to have access, and give them the permissions they need.

Second -

1. Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot

2. In the Find and fix other problems section, select Shared Folders.

1. Right-click on the Start icon and select Search.

2. Type control

The first entry will be Control Panel (yep, it still exists).

3. Click on Control Panel .

4. Click on User Accounts in Control Panel.

5. Click on Manage another account.

6. Click on the user you want.

7. Click on Change the password.

When I click "Give access to", it does not show Advanced sharing . It shows Remove access, Homegroup (new), Homegroup (View and edit) and Specific people.

I went to Control Panel and clicked on User Accounts but it only shows Change account type and Remove User accounts but not Manage another account

but it could not find my desktop PC.

Are you logged on as an Administrator?

I rebooted and tried to login as administrator but I don't know my password Grrrrr

Don't see Command Prompt (Admin)? when I right click on Start. I have to search and then enter net user administrator /active:yes at the cmd prompt. But now when I do that I get System error 5 has occurred.
