    jimbo, the WiFi device does not have a 5Ghz band so nothing he does is going to make it work.

    Hi there

    @teletheast

    With the 5GHZ band some equipment can only see the lower channels and lower bandwidth option -- so on your router adjust the 5GHZ channel accordingly. Other equipment randomly disconnects as well.

    I noticed this when trying to connect a new Amazon firestick -- it picked up the 5GHZ band but kept saying "Out of Range" until I'd adjusted the channel and bandwidth and control sideband settings on the router for the 5GHZ wifi.

    This seems the best compromise --I found problems with some equipment if I selected the 80 Mhz rather than 40 or 20 MHZ bandwith option and if I'd also selected upper rather than lower control sideband. The default setting was ch 140, bandwidth 80 Mhz and control sideband setting was upper.

    This setting seems to work well for all my gear that can access 5GHZ wifi -- and the range is greater too !!!

    All working fine now.

    Most domestic routers can be accessed via 192.168.x.1 where x is usually 0, 1 or 2

    Cheers

    That's also true jimbo.
    If there are several wifi sources in your area, some channels and frequencies are overlapping and tends to "cancel" each other. So adjusting channels and frequencies will help also.

    But for the OP's issue, I found out that his wifi card is only single band.
