Need help projecting PC to laptop

A few minutes ago (maybe half an hour), I was projecting my desktop PC to my laptop (both Windows 10). I disconnected, and now I want to project again, but the laptop is not showing up in the "Connect" list.

Laptop "Projecting to this PC" settings are currently:
    -Available Everywhere
-Every time a connection is requested
    -Never
-On (and I am connected to a power source)

When I go to Connect on my desktop, the only thing in the list is a pair of bluetooth headphones that are not in the same room as I am in. Desktop and Laptop are about 2' apart.

I can, however, project from my laptop to my desktop without issue (although that is not what I want to do). I can also see my TV from my laptop's Connect screen, but not from my desktop's Connect screen.

I have tried restarting the laptop.

What do I need to do to be able to project from desktop to laptop again? I'm not sure what could have happened in the few minutes during which I was disconnected, to make it unavailable.

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

Before you can see the laptop as available to connect to, you should open the Connect app on the laptop....

...then it should appear in the list of available connections, seen by the other PC.

I have the connect app open on the laptop, it looks like that...
    <PCName>
is ready for you to connect wirelessly
    Version: 10.0.17763.1 (Beta Release)
Protected content can't be viewed on this device.

Then when I go to my PC and choose Connect, the laptop does not appear in the list.

That seems a very old version of Connect. What version of Windows are you running on the laptop? Build 17763 suggests it is version 1809. What version are you running on the Desktop?

You could try resetting Connect. Click on Start and type 'connect' then select 'App settings' from the list on the right.

Laptop is Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1809 (this is a work computer and I don't have authorization to change anything).
Desktop is Windows 10 Pro, version 1809 (this is my personal computer).

I just tried resetting the Connect app as described, then ran it again, and tried to connect my desktop PC, but the laptop is still not in the list.

This is so strange, as it was working fine this morning.

The only suggestion I have left is to click Start on the laptop and select Restart from the power button. Sometimes a full start up from cold can correct 'strange' faults.

I tried that as well, no change

Thank you for your efforts, though.

Hello Stacy, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You might look over the tutorial below to see if it may help any.

I find that both devices really need to be connected to the same wireless network.

Thank you. I tried going through the instructions, but to no avail, the laptop still isn't showing up in the list on my PC. If I remember right, I disconnected the projection yesterday morning, because the screen froze or something, and then I found I was unable to connect again, it not being in the list anymore. Both computers are on the same Wi-Fi.
