How do I set up Win10 as network master?
Hi. I’ve been running a Windows 10 desktop and an APC SmartUPS successfully for some time. I’m not using the APC PowerChute SW, but instead have Win10’s own battery monitoring function set up to shut down the PC after 1 minute when the APC signals it’s on battery.
I just recently figured I’d like to have my Qnap NAS linked up so that, once the PC sees the UPS is on battery, it tells the NAS to shut down. I’m told I have to configure Win10 as a “network master” to do this, and probably use a SW utility like NUT to drive the NAS. It seems most folks do it the other way around - hook the UPS indicator to the NAS and then set it up as the network master, but as my PC runs 24/7 and is in control of everything, I was hoping to have it drive things. Anyone done something like this?
Running version 1909.
