Computer not showing up on network after Win10 2004 update.

So I just updated computer A to Win10 2004 19041.264 and now computer B ( Win10 1909 18363.836) can not see it. The ethernet network ( via cable ) was working perfectly before the update.

There must have been a change in the updated computer A somewhere but I cannot work out how to get them both talking again. Any ideas.

    Best

Edit: when I do an Ethernet reset on Computer B it tells me 'Ethernet' doesn't have a valid IP configuration - not fixed.

A major update is in effect a new o/s so it wont be found straight away as others will be looking for the old system. If they other hasnt a ip that would be a problem open a cmd promt then type

    ipconfig /all

    Thank you Samuria,

I have no idea how, but, I seemed to have fixed the issue ( or it fixed itself ). Both computers are now showing up on each computer. Windows networking is a mystery to me as it seems to have a life of its own.

I agree about the update, it took around 4 hours to download and install....I think I will wait a bit before updating my Photoshop/Unity workstation.

Anyway, cheers for taking the time to help.

I have done 3 pcs so far all took only 75mins. You may well get the same problem after you update being a new pc it normally takes 20 mins or so with both pcs on to see each other

    Hi farrellart.

Go to Computer A and do the following.
Go to Services, and right click "Function Discovery Resource Publication" and select "Restart".
The go to "Function Discovery Provider Host" and right click it and select "Restart".

Now go to Computer B and see if you can see Computer A now.

Computer not showing up on network

I have just discovered an easy fix for when my PC's disappear from the network, what I have done is when those PC's are showing, I pin each one to Quick Access and when they disappear, I just left click on them in Quick Access and they show up again
