Home network - computers unable to connect for folder sharing

    Hi

I have Windows10 Home (ver 1909) installed on 2 compters on my home network.

Computer 1 - connected to main router (via ethernet).
Computer 2 - connected to Access Point (via ethernet). The AP is connected to the main router (ethernet) and the IP addresses of each computer on are on the same default gateway.

SInce the Homegroup option is no longer available, I shared the folder (with 'everyone' and gave read / write access) on Computer 1's folder that I want to access using Computer 2.

In Explorer, under 'Network', I can see Compuer 1. When I try to access it, I get an error saying I dont have permission to use this network or resource. Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in.......

    My set-up is as follows:
    • No Windows passwords are required to logon to either computer (I disabled these in User Account settings and prefer not to have them)
    • Computer 1 is logged into my Microsoft account
    • Computer 2 is a local account (I tried logging into my Microsoft account and network access did not work either).
    • I can ping both computers
    • I dont use OneDrive

What am I doing wrong in my setup? (this used to be fairly simple in the Homegroup option)

    Many thanks

I had the same error message early on.

Try this. Go to Computer 2 > File explorer and type \\computername for computer 1.

Wait about 30 seconds and you should see all the network shares on computer 1.

If this works, and it should, the error message should resolve itself over time - it took three days for the error message to go away on my machines.

Try turning off password protected sharing:

No, I right clicked on the folder and "gave access" to everyone.
