    Ticks or clicks from my router


    Hi

    Every few seconds, my router d-link sdlg256dg, is making a tick/click sound.
    Any idea what can cause this? If more info is needed, let me know.

    Probably a poorly designed power supply making a noise under electrical load

    by electrical load you mean of the router itself or around it (computer/ups/etc)?

    Not a fan- they don't have them- possibly a relay - really? a relay?

    E.g.

    I saw this thread but it's 5 years old, different router/modem and the conclusions there were inconclusive, or maybe I didn't understand.

    So it looks like a router issue? meaning replace it will solve it or with a new one I will just hear new ticks?

    Thank you for your reply. Wouldn't expect any moving parts in a modern router.. there were reports of coil whine and beeps but not ticking... you haven't got a really old clockwork router, have you?

    You could try your manfacturer's forum. I couldn't find your model.

I cant see ticks in menus. eg bsplayer or throttlestop. in some programs the function is triggered by clicking text of the function, but eg in bsplayer you have to check it and there isnowhere to tick it. in throttlestop there should be ticks...
