    Internet speed drops to half

Hello, its few months when I have this problem, and my provider said that my speed its not limited. But when I am downloading games (it happend with rockstar, and now with steam too) first 17gb its downloaded with normal speed, but after 17gb, speed drops at half and dont know how to fix this, everything is updated, network card updated. Thanks for help.

Your Internet provider probably has nothing to do with your download speeds from Rockstar and Steam. The download servers from them may be throttling the speed.

I have been downloading games and updates for them from Rockstar, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts for years. The download rates are very variable. I found it best to just queue up any downloads and go do something else until the downloads are done. There is no sense worrying about something you have no control over.

with many people being at home and online due to the Chinese virus, its possibly part of the answer but here in the UK, no problem at all. Full speed all day every day. Well pleased.

You must be lucky. I have had high-speed internet for twenty years and have never had full speed Internet 24/7. Right now I can do a speed test and get a download speed of 234Mbps. However that means nothing when I pick a web site that is experiencing a lot of traffic. Also since most connections involve multiple hops the speed depends upon the slowest link.

I do agree that the Internet usage is way up because of COVID-19. I have seen connection timeouts a lot more the last couple months. Sometime I just have to give up and try later.

It all depends on your provider as well I suppose. I have been with Virgin Media (UK) since day 1. Other providers try and claim that they are the best, the fastest, the cleverest etc. But in reality they cant hold a candle to VM. Some companies were ordered by authorities to change their 'lying' adverts. Talk Talk (UK) have sales people in shopping centres trying to get sales. They say to me as I pass, Who is your provider? When I mention VM, they walk away, they simply cannot compete. MY TV (cable), my mobile and my landline (cable) are also with VM. OK, there are occasional glitches, there always is but VM get these sorted within a very short space of time. I score them 99.99999999%
