Persistent and annoying FLIGHT MODE icon

Hi My Win10 machine has recently started showing a FLIGHT MODE icon in the connection centre when I go to fire up my VPN

I have looked long (but perhaps not hard enough) through all sorts of "solutions" but none of them stick.
I have an HP running Win10Pro 64-bit Intel I5 -7500T CPU I have NO WiFi card 4GM RAM
I have a simple ethernet connection and that's it.
Just sometimes the VPN gets a bit sticky and it starts buffering enormously - after a "fix" which consists of:
    1. Deleting the handful of WAN Miniport devices
    2. Then checking for hardware changes
    3. Then rebooting
This works for a day, or a few hours or sometimes a week before the FLIGHT MODE reappears and VPN performance degrades.
    Any ideas please?
    Jean

    Jean,

The icon was added in a CU or Version update a while ago.

The existence of the icon is not doing anything. It only does anything if you click on it.
The existence of the icon is not doing anything. It is not causing your VPN problems; something else is responsible for them.

If it is dark coloured as in this example then Flight mode is Off - not doing anything.

If it is shown in your highlight colour [like your titlebars] then it has been switched on and all WiFi & Bluetooth are suppressed. Notice also that, when Flight mode is on, the Taskbar / Notification area network icon is replaced by the Flight mode icon.

I do not think there is any method of suppressing that icon from the network connections pop-up window.

Hi everyone especially Denis. It just goes to show how dangerous it is to jump to conclusions! The VPN issue must be totally irrelevant thanks for saving me hours of messing about fruitlessly.

    All the best

A note: my Notebooks running Win 10 Pro all show Airplane Mode instead of Flight Mode. Additionally, most have Bluetooth wireless which is great for mice [no USB dongle needed] but Airplane Mode being on also turns off BT along with Wi-Fi.

As I said my PC isn't even provided with WiFi and only connects with Ethernet - Thanks
