I can see them, but they cannot see me

Hey guys;
I have two Windows 10 computers and I want to share files between them.
I have both computers set up to share files, and I have shared folders on both computers.
Both computers are on the same network, connected by Ethernet.

When I open file explorer on computer #1, and select Network, I see only the computer #2, but not itself (computer #1).
On computer #2, I see itself, but not computer #1.

Before I installed the most recent Windows update, I had both computers able to access files on each other, but since the update, I have this problem.

I believe I have both computers set up the same way, but I may need to re-check some of the advanced settings.

Anyone else having trouble with sharing after Windows update?

Go to services and make sure that Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication services are both running. Make sure that both services are set to automatic start.

As Jack indicated check those two services.

I have found on my little HomeLAN (all PCs running the latest version of Windows 10) that I had to add a scheduled restart of the "Function Discovery Resource Publication" service after every boot or reboot (I haven't ever found out why this works). Here is my post in another thread that I tell how to do it:

"While "stumbling" around searching for a fix for this I found a post (which I can't find again) that suggested stopping and starting (or restarting) the "Function Discovery Resource Publication" service as a work around for the issue of a PC disappearing from its own and other PCs on the Network Network page after a reboot or shutdown and restart. I tested it by manually going to the Services applet and stopping and starting that service. Magically the PC reappeared on its and the other PCs Network page in file manager.
I have yet to find anything that explains what is causing that particular service to fail to function properly or how to fix it. But since the work around works I set out to find a way to automate the process so I don't have to manually stop and start that service after every reboot. The best method I found was to create a task in Task Scheduler that after about 1 minute the service is stopped and restarted (example of how to create a task to do that here: How to restart a windows service using Task Scheduler - Stack Overflow, just substitute "Function Discovery Resource Publication" in place of "print spooler" in the example).

A couple other tweaks I had to make to the task were:

On the general page click the "run at highest privileges" box and I selected "Configure for Windows 10
Had to set the trigger event to start "at login" for "any user"
I also added a 1 minute delay before it runs (but I'm not sure if that is absolutely necessary."

I have had this problem before and after the last update. But if you have physical access to both computers, and you use manual procedures to transfer the files, it really does not matter. If one computer appears in the network, you can always access both of them.

I created a task to stop and start the Function Discovery Resource Publication service. Funny thing is that after I created the task, I cannot find it anywhere in task scheduler. It does run; When I log in I see the command window open and the commands appear there, then the network computer shows in Explorer. But it beats me that I cannot find the task. I picked through all of the folders in the navigation pane of task scheduler under Task Scheduler Library, but cannot find the task I created...
When I created the task, I double-clicked on Create Basic Task.
Well, it works, so I guess I shouldn't worry about it.
And yes, I could have left well enough alone, as I am able to transfer files from one computer to the other. It's just my having a bit of an OCD issue. I don't like to have things not working without knowing the reason.

Thank you so much. You are a Godsend. I was having this same issue and it fixed my problem.

On my rig The service Function Discovery Resource Publication has recovery set to restart the service for the 2 first failure, 2 minutes after each failure. by default
