Pc doesn't recognize smart tv on network

My desktop is connected to frontier internet. Phone line connects to netgear 7550 modem/router. Ethernet cable goes from 7550 modem to pc. My pc works fine, only slow because of poor frontier internet. Another ethernet cable goes from 7550 modem to lan input on panasonic smart tv. Tv shows it is connected to internet, however windows 10 media player does not find it. If I look in devices and printers, tv is not there. I want to show pics on tv and maybe stream to the tv if possible. I need help please. Thanks Steve

Welcome to the forum. can you find the ip of the tv it should show in settings or on the router as connected device. If you select a video right clcik on the files is there an option to cast to the tv does that work?

    Run Dxdiag

save all information to a text file on your desktop

open the text file and look for " Miracast " (Without quotes)

If not miracast capable your computer can't cast to the tv.

I can't cast from my gateway but I can from my Hp.
You might be able update your video drivers and get it , but I doubt it.

    Welcome to Ten Forums stesin.

What make and model of Smart TV do you have?

Edit: I see now that you said 'Panasonic' (same make as mine)...

In order for the TV to appear as a device you can cast to it has to have DLNA enabled in the TV's own settings. On my Panasonic that is found in its Menu > Network > Network Link Settings. The 'DLNA Remote Control' has to be set to ON (by default it is off).

If the TV is available, it should appear in Bluetooth and other devices.

I routinely right-click on a media file such as an mp4 and select 'Cast to Device' to send it to my Panasonic Viera TV.

Not true, 'Cast to Device' should work on any PC, Miracast is not required for this form of casting. In fact the PC that the screenshot above was from does not have it.

What Miracast does is it gives you additional capabilities, like casting your desktop to another Miracast device. But in order to use it both the PC and the TV have to be Miracast-capable.

Miracast is not needed to use 'Cast to Device', I can cast to my Panasonic Viera without it. If your Panasonic TV does not appear as an available device, then check its manual for enabling DLNA remote control on the TV itself.

But have you checked the settings on your TV? On my Roku TV it's in settings under System, then Screen Mirroring. And I agree - Miracast has nothing to do with it.
