    Using both Hotspot and WiFi

    Hey guys altough i just created my account i have been using ten forums for the past 3 years i love this page.

    This is the first time in my life i cant find an answer to something and i think its because its impossible.
    So here it is, i am stuck in a hotel with bad wifi and i want to use my phones 4g which i can connect to my pc with either usb/bluetooth/wifi and the hotels wifi at the same time, i want to set it so only video games i choose like World of Warcraft and League of Legends use my phones 4g connection and all other apps like discord use the hotels wifi. Is this even possible if so how?

    From my testing i found out that playing WoW uses less than 10mb an hour but discord absolutely eats up all my data. What i have been doing for the past couple of days is having my tablet connected to wifi and using discord from there and using my phone with a cable to transfer data to pc so i can game, i dont want to do this because discord app is sh*t and also there is a new feature in discord where we can use cameras in servers but only works on the desktop app.

    Thank you for taking the time to read this and sorry if am posting in the wrong section i am new to this forum stuff.

    You are on the right track, "its impossible". Your device has one WiFi card, it cannot connect to two networks at the same time.

    If you get a WiFi USB adapter, you could have two wireless connections at the same time. How Windows will route the applications between the two network is crap-shot at best.

    If the hotel has wired connection, take a broadband router with you. Connect the router's WAN side to the hotel LAN and your WiFi device to the router's wireless network. I used to do that, when traveled frequently for business purposes; still do it on pleasure trips with my better half for security purposes and sharing the internet access.

    Can you please read my post again, I said i can connect my 4g to the laptop using either wifi/usb/bluetooth. Why would i need a second WiFi card if i can just connect it using usb and it shows up as ethernet connection.

    No, it is not possible. Windows does not know how to manage two networks at once. It will try to use the fastest network for everything.

    Yeah thats what i though, thank you though. I will still keep this thread open for a few days in case someone pops up with an amazing program that does this.

    Understood. But the question has been asked many times and nobody has yet posted any method.

    I played around with it myself once. I did not get anywhere.

    Sorry for misreading your OP...

    Maybe the ForceBindIP app would work for you...

    Hi there

    @HooL

    Without using extra hardware (other than having 2 network adapters) -- for 2nd wifi adapter use LAN->wifi in the lan slot of your PC.

    One way is to create a Virtual machine so you can use one connection for accessing your phone's 4G system.

    I suggest you use the HOST for that and the wifi on the Virtual machine. The Virtual machine uses a "Virtual ethernet adapter" which as far as your main machine is concerned is a separate device. Note it will still be able to pick up wifi so both phone and hotel systems will be available.

    You can use your main Wifi card for the HOST and the USB/LAN for the VM -- in the VM config set the appropriate adapter as the network device. You still need 2 adapters for connecting to two different (totally separate) networks --there's no current method in the known universe to use 1 piece of kit to "multiplex" between the two networks.

    If you go the Virtual Machine route then use Bridged networking as the Virtual machine needs a separate IP address --it's acting like a physical machine .

    Using a Virtual machine also makes it simple if you are the only user and you want to switch between using the phone network and the slower one.

    Gets complicated on a single machine (not using a Virtual machine) switching between networks although I'm sure there might be some gurus here who can do it -- the crunch thing is you need 2 network adapters whether LAN / Wifi or 2 X LAN or 2 X Wifi. A mix is also allowed but you need 2 adapters however they are connected to the machine. With a Virtual machine you just switch between the Host and VM like switching between two applications on Windows. No need to logoff either system.

    VMWare player is free as is Virtual Box (and HYPER-V - more complicated to use that though and needs W10 Pro or above).

    Otherwise try one of these things -- supports both wifi and LAN, Not sure about Blu tooth though.

    The other thing these devices give you is the ability to share wifi / ethernet connections to other devices so if the hotel only has 1 login - no problem -- your "cllients" login to your router -- so if hotel system is fast enough you'd only need one connection anyway and the nice part is they only see your "static" login -- what you do is hidden from the main login on the hotel system - so no probs with Netflix etc from hotel system. Saves using the phone 4G system too -- could be expensive when "Roaming" and using the sort of data needed for video and games.

    I often when traveling have 4 / 5 people sharing the connection for meetings etc from a single hotel logon.

    cheers

    @jimbo45

    Thank you for your answer i think this would be the most optimal method to do it. You really saved me here and you explained everything really well. Again thank you!!!!
