How do I replace my 2.4GHz network with a 5.8 GHz network for my laptop?

Easiest way is to buy a USB Wireless dongle.

You may be able to replace wireless adapter in laptop but that usually requires disassembly.

Didn't see laptop make model in your specs so no comment on complexity.

You can usually find videos on youtube as to how to take apart.

But since I do not have the 5.8GHz network, how do I speed up my Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter?

    No.

Ghz are based based on radios installed in your router and your computer or computer and cell towers for those able to connect to cellular networks.

Your adapter and router both need to be able to transmit and receive on a frequency. I say this because I seen people buy AC class routers only to find their devices don't support AC frequencies.

If you could post the make and model of your router and the exact Adapter name in your computer some google searches will tell us exactly what capabilities you have.

It is possible to speed up wireless connections on a band (2.4 or 5) by positioning your router in a better location. The stronger the signal the better the speed. That said hardware can only go so fast even if the two devices are side by side.

Does my Wireless Network Adapter in my laptop supports a 5G network?

In your pic above we only see options for 802.11 b/g/n. Of those specified protocols, the fastest of those options is 802.11n, however; without utilizing a router that employs MIMO technology, don't expect 250Mbps.

What is 802.11 Wireless LAN Standards? Webopedia Definition

As Ken said, you will require to have a wireless network card and router that are both capable of faster through-put based on the available transmission protocol. What is the make and model number of your wifi router?

If I have a 5.8GHz network card in my laptop and a 5.8GHz network USB, does that double up the speed of the network connection?

    Just making sure.
