    Wake on LAN not working

I just cannot get wake on LAN working.
I have it enabled in my BIOS and supposedly my network card supports it as seen in this command.

However when I try to enable it I get bamboozled.

Also, sadly it is grayed out in the device manager.

Could the fact that hyper-V is enabled and has virtual switches be the culprit? I am out of ideas...

    Also winver is:

It's a wireless adapter. I'm not aware of WOL working with any wireless adapters. I regularly use WOL with Ethernet adapters, but have never found a wireless adapter that it works with.

If I'm wrong on that point, I'm sure that someone else will point this out.

    @hsehestedt,

How safe is WOL? I'm thinking about enabling it on my system.

And yeah, I'm only aware of WOL via ethernet but I make no claim of being accurate here so...

I'm not aware of any safety concerns with WOL. All it does is wake a machine. So, anyone could send WOL packets to wake a system. Once the system is running all the same security measures apply as when a system is manually powered on.

Laptops don't use much energy. Why not simply leave it on?

It's not a laptop but a PC so not really practical to leave it on 24/7.

The whole idea is that I wanna be able to acess the PC from my laptop or anywhere but not keep it on all the time.

I have my router's IP set to a fixed hostname using no-ip and forwarded ports to the PC so having WoL would be great..

what about using one of those wireless extenders which plugs into an outlet and also provides an ethernet connection for your notebook?

Didn't see one of those before. That is a good idea though. I can't make the ethernet wiring from the router to the pc, but this could be an option!

    In your screenshot https://www.tenforums.com/attachment...king-image.png
You have not ticked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
That's why the next box ... "Allow this device to wake the computer" is grayed out.

So tick this: "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
And then tick this: "Allow this device to wake the computer"
