Covid-19: Create USB key for remote assistance

    Hello

I need to help my father in law with is PC with Windows XP. He is confine to protect him again the Covid-19 virus. I can't go visit him. I tried to explain steps for installing AnyDesk, but no success.

My Idea, can I create a USB stick that once installed in is PC will allow me to give him remote assistance? I'm using Windows 10. I want a simple solution with ideally nothing to install from him on is PC.

At 95, my father in law is using is PC for email, an important communication link for him. For the moment he got a warning message and I can't help him if I don't see it.

    Any help truly appreciated.

    Martin

    P.S. excuse my English

    Martin,

Perhaps you can use the Steps recorder to send him instructions that he can follow [because they are illustrated].

If you search this forum for screenshots threads, many of them recommend alternatives and some of those alternatives might be WinXP-compatible which would help him send info back to you.

Since he is connected to the internet with his WinXP computer, there might be all kinds of malware on his system. I hope he does not do any online banking.

    Thank you Denis

    Will look at WinXp stuff.

I did prepare another usb key with Teamviewer installed on it. Hopefully, he will be able to read the key and click on Teamviewer icone. I will have it bring to him this morning.

When you setup your USB key with Teamviewer did you load v14.

Pretty sure it has to be V14 for XP.

You also need to have 14 on your machine as V15 won't connect to V14

Teamviewer is a good idea. But you have to suffer a little with the father in law. I would also advise you to use an external drive and remotely connect to his computer to install all the necessary programs. You can remotely connect a hard drive with the help of the Flexihub USB Over Network Software: Share USB devices over Network With FlexiHub
