    smb question

    No problem, just a question.
I am wondering why in my case access to shares between two desktop PC's takes place with smb v2 and not with smb v3.
    W10 Pro, v1909
As said, communication is ok, no problem.

It depends on which versions of Windows OS you are sharing on.

Microsoft introduced a new version of the protocol SMB 2.0 with Windows Vista.

SMB 2.1, introduced with Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.

SMB 3.0 (previously named SMB 2.2) was introduced with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012

Both PC's are W10 Pro v1909, but originally both PC's had W7 and were upgraded some years ago.
Might that be the reason? That SMB v3 becomes only active after a fresh install?
