Time it takes for computers to discover new shares

My computer finally shows up under network but by the time it did the credentials have changed.
In fact I think it showed up about the time I changed my credentials user ID and login on the other computer. I went in and I deleted all shares with some utility msc with a IFg or I can not remember - and then changed my user id and login - THEN it shows up on the other computer under network but its asking for the wrong credentials. I am trying to get a lot of other things done and just did not take good notes this whole mess started when a video card went out and I did not make a fresh clone of my system when the network started working. So I would say if your network is all up and running - do hard all your drive images of all of them at that point all at the same time because it could be 2 weeks before your computers decide to see each other.

Do we use PC name or USER name to log in

Ether because my old login was the same as my pc name in the past. OR its because we need to use the computer name. So anyway the database that communicates with he computers on the network does not seam to be the same database we can look at and see. it took a few weeks for me to access the network finally. Last time before I lost access used Dump with the pass. What i do not get is why we can not see or look at what ever is giving out the access must be delayed by a few weeks or we are supposed to use our computer name and not our login or what is going on.
But ether way it seams I do not have access to what ever data these computers are using for login credentials.
I no longer have a user name that I login with on any of my computers now that start with Dons980T
That was a month ago I used that but for some reason it now works for login even though that user name was deleted. I no longer use DONS980T to log into any computers yet that works for credentials and I wonder how long. In a few weeks I supposes when things sync up it wont work any more? It appears we are not given access to what we need to access to setup peer to peer networks. It for some reason takes a long time for things to get sorted out. So if things are not working and you make changes its going to mess things up ??Why wont proven good credentials work. to access network ?-credentials.jpg

So neither computer lists Dons980T in response to the command
    Code:
    net user

Are you Share and Security set up to allow Authenticated Users and do you have the same user accounts on each computer exact same user name and passwords This is how mine works on my 5 computer network.
The user accounts don't need to be logged on just that the are there on each computer.
I also have to restart Services quite often on computers that stay up 24/7: Function Discovery Provider HostFunction Discovery Resource Publication. I restart them from Services.msc They will show that they are running but once I restart them they become visible to the network again. I suppose a reboot would do the same thing.

It weird I made users with the same name and gave up on waiting, I deleted those users out of the users and now the old users shows up. I made new shares with those new names but the old shares with the old name show up. I do not get to see what is going on at all it looks like. Someplace in windows there is a secret place that I can not touch yet it has those network names. I am like you I though that if I put the same name on all the computer and Shared while logged into that then it would come up as a share. you can see "Dump" those did not show up. I now have gtx1070 for all my logins and that is what is the same on both computers and that is what I now have shared but those shares do not show up under that name. It still wants to use dons980T. even though that has been deleted out. SO this tells me I do not get to see what is going on and this network will probably stop working when what ever file that is in control decided to update its information. Why wont proven good credentials work. to access network ?-donsnetwork.jpg
so here is a picture of it. I have no users logins named 980T any more yet that is the share that is working. I do not have a way to tell my system to share files and I do not know how to look at what shares are present and actual see the ones that are in use and actuall tell it what name I and password I want to use. There is a place that contains this information but I do not get to access it. One day I will try to do my work and my network will be gone and I will have no understanding how to fix it. There must be a way to see what shares are present and to delete them and name them what I want but its all this big mystery. It seams to me this stuff should be as simple as setting up a email name and a password but it absolutely is not. Its buried in a pile of complexity. There has to be a way to see shares make shares and no what the user names and passwords are. Apparently we share files with users by being a administrator. I keep both my systems as administrators I have no regular users maybe that is why ?? somehow I am missing key information I have no idea how people out their manage their networks or how a computer technician would ever be able to setup peer to peer networks when windows refuses to allow us to see the data its using for its shares. Its in there in the files someplace I just do not know where yet. I have tried all the msc commands that show the names of shares I type in fsmgmt.msc or net user and dons980 is no where to be found. Maybe the way to setup a network is through the actual registry ???

    Donny,

You seem to be mixing up references to user accounts, computer names, "network names" & share names. I cannot unravel what you have written.

1 You do have a user account called Dons1070. You do not have any other user accounts [that you have created]. This is a local user account not an MSAccount?
2 Creating new users does not stop other user accounts from appearing. So your comment, "I deleted those users out of the users and now the old users shows up", is not understood.
3 On each computer, double-click on the entry in File explorer, Network for that computer [i.e. tell it to show itself]. So on the computer called Dons980T-PC in your diagram, double-click on Dons980T-PC to expand it. That will show you the share names you chose for each folder that you shared on that computer. Then do the same on Desktop-DC9VIV9 to see the share names you chose for each folder that you shared on that computer.
4 Then attempt these checks the other way around to see what the computers can see of each other's shares i.e. on Dons980T-PC, double-click on Desktop-DC9VIV9 to reveal the shares on Desktop-DC9VIV9 that Dons980T-PC can see.

    Don,

While you are checking things -

On each computer run this command to reveal the "WorkGroup" name [you can use a Command window or a PowerShell window, it does not matter].
The response has 2 lines. The first line is always the word Workgroup and the second line is the name of the workgroup.

The workgroup name must be the same on both computers. It is probably set correctly already.
[You could also see the workgroup name by switching your File explorer, Network diagram to Details view.]

I have never seen my router appear in that File explorer, Network diagram you posted.

Why wont proven good credentials work. to access network ?-image.png
If you can see this, My confusion lay with users. I changed my user name on this computer after my video card blew. I put in a 1070 - When my 980 video card did go I wanted to rule out software. I restored my OS from a system duplication. Because my shares would not show up I changed my user name and reshared. That is when my problems began. But it appears my users\regular name that syncs did not change with it it still says Dons980T. My confusion lay with user names and shares and sharing with computers are users. It is a riddle for me. Who shares and who receives. ? I think it was said that we share with users not computers so im confused. I guess I should have deleted the user and created a new one because changing the name and then using that name to be the one that I login on all my computers is probably not how I should do it.

For imaging to be useful it needs to be completed often.
