4 USB devices, to 4-to-1 USB hub, to USB to CAT5 Adpt, to CAT5 to USB

Hello all.

Sorry that this is some what more of a hardware question, but I have 4 USB devices in a utility room that have the ability to be tied into a PC to monitor their actives and logs, but as I don’t want to keep a dedicated PC in that room just for that I was looking for a way to get them to my Win 10 64 Pro desktop.

So while I am not asking for guaranties here, I was thinking of trying a 4 to 1 USB hub, to a female to RJ45 CAT5 adapter, run a CAT 5 cable to the PC, then use a CAT5 to mail USB adapter, and then plug that into the PC.

So again, am not looking for guaranties here, but in theory should that work and also show up as 4 individual devices on my Win10 PC?

Over all I think if I was looking to just get 1 able to be seen by the PC I wouldn’t bother asking, but as I need 4 to show up over the single line and plug, I thought I would check on that here and see what people might think.

How is the USB hub getting powered?

That is a good question that I did not think about it.

In looking at the parts though and seeing how the USB to CAT5 adapters are a match set and what they are for and what they are described as being able to be used for, my guess is they provide the standard power amounts a USB cable would.

So hopefully the hub will be powered from the female port of that after it has changed back from the CAT5.

In not knowing this stuff though, is that not possible?
