Windows can not access \\192.168.x.xxx

    Well, my knowledge of the pi3 is (very) limited, but if you can access it by ping and FTP then maybe it is the credentials that explorer is trying to use that are the problem. Try mapping a drive letter to the share, that way you get the opportunity to specify the account name and password to be offered to the pi3. This thread is the closest match to your problem that I have found....

    Thanks for your help up to this point.

    I too wonder if there is some credentialing issue.

    Winscp also requires a username and password for the pi which is

    pi
    raspberry

    It works on winscp but no matter how many times I put this in windows it won’t connect. I will try the solution in the forum link you posted.
