    Wifi 6 questions

    Hoping these questions make sense.

After seeing the rising hype for Wifi 6 aka 802.11ax routers, a few questions to ask.

Will 802.11ax routers make any difference when used with 802.11ac adapters, or must they be used with 802.11.ax adapters to experience any difference?

Also, is there a chance of USB 802.1ax adapters being introduced in the future?

    802.11ax at DuckDuckGo
That page has images of the Router but as with 802.11ac, 802.11n, 802.11g, etc., all things that make connections need to be the same type to get the speed or features available so the answer would be Yes, there should be adapters coming but with current adapters being built into Notebooks and some newer Desktops it's hard to say when. I'd think it may be awhile as not many will immediately run out and buy new machines just for that one feature. Add-in cards for Desktops may see the earliest surge.

Adapters available today: 802.11ax, Wireless Adapters, Wireless Networking, Networking - Newegg.com

None of them are USB. (USB 3.1 Gen 2 would be required to handle the maximum data rate, if I understand the specs.)

What's your motivation? Do you anticipate a practical advantage to being able to move data around your wireless network at rates above 10 Gbps, or do you simply want the latest and greatest?
