Older media player can't connect to windows 10 shares

    Hi,

I recently got a new windows 10 PC. I setup file sharing (using a PW) and I am able to login and access the folder from my
windows 7 PC and my newer nvidia shield media player. However, on my older neotv550 media player, I can't connect.
Both media players can access windows 7 shares with no problem.

    Any advice? Thanks!!

    Welcome to Ten Forums ichipmaker.

A media player that old almost certainly requires SMB1. On a W10 PC you would have to enable 'SMB 1.0/CIFS Server' in Windows Features for it to be able to connect. SMB1 is disabled by default in W10 because it is a very old protocol and may be a security risk.

I was wondering if that was it. Let me try it. Thanks!

Darn. Although I can access the windows 10 shares now, the access is slower than my windows 7 PC. I put the same movie
file on both machines and attempted to stream from the older media streamer. The windows 7 PC loads the movie quicker
and there is no stuttering. The windows 10 PC loads the same movie slower and there is constant stutters.

The windows 10 PC is a m.2 samsung 970 pro ssd.
The windows 7 PC is 2 velociraptors SATA hard drives in raid0.

When copying the movie from the windows 10 pc to the windows 7 pc, I saw average transfer rate of 100MB/s.

    Any ideas?

Ok, updated my router FW and no more stuttering. Still loads quicker off the 11 year old PC, but as long as it doesn't stutter I'm good. Thanks a bunch!
