Ad hoc or PeerToPeer Win10Home. One PC,One Notebook

Hi ya .How to create an ad-hoc,or peer-to-peer network between a couple machines with win10 home on them ? I want to be able to use the wi-fi with the network, view files, drives, interact between them same as a wired ethernet setup.

Im reading from several Win10 books, that have had 'homegroup'in most of them . And I cannot find anybody complaining about setting up a network like this,or the lack of Win10 support for doing so.

I am not using a wireless router,or a router to access the Internet between these machines. So connecting them directly, and being able to interact is my first goal. Im aware of most of the settings concerning files but I cannot wrest the context of steps" to create the wireless network . To do so from what I can gather of information on the web .

Don't have perfect question, just want to wi-fi network these two machines.

Seems most explanations are doing so with some other parameter to their environment than this. Stranding themselves at Internet connecting with some 'smart machine' e.g. router ,ethernet etc. in my reading of them .. I m not confusing Internet with ad-hoc,or peer-to-peer. Both machines are at home, and my work on them is serious local . Then I cannot do the 'round trip with any of the Microsoft scenarios on my metered connection to the Internet.

    One Desktop,One Notebook . Thanks.
    Windows 10.0.18362 Build 18362 (Laptop)
    Windows 10.0.18363 Build 18363 (Desktop)

..an app that works the same would be great.

Hi, most of the networking resources on this site are listed here, including a collection from the extensive tutorials section:
    https://www.tenforums.com/network-sh...-list-windows-
    networking.html?146249=#post1790941

However note the networking in Win 10, with the removal of Homegroup, can be a variable experience. 'Now you see the PC, now you don't - or can't access it'. I've seen it myself between my two PCs- one Wifi, one ethernet.

    E.g.
    The vagaries of networking
I will say this for Windows networking. It is terrible!
    and many more.

Not the most robust feature. This occurs from time to time:
Can connect to pc share using ip address but not the share name
