Unable to connect to online games such as in steam etc

Recently I built this new computer, everything seemed fine. I can browse the internet with fast speeds etc. however I am unable to play online games in applications such as steam or origin. When I restart I am sometimes able to connect to csgo servers for 5 minutes or so but then lose connection. I have tried turning off my firewall and turning of the firewall on my router but I am unsure of what to do. I am running windows 10 64 bit version 18363.418 - any suggestions?

    @Jimmyjam -

    Welcome to Windows Ten Forums!

    What AV/Firewall are you using?
Perhaps the WD Firewall is blocking the connections.

What error messages, if any, when you invoke the Steam or Origin client software (not the game)?

Are you able to connect without the router -> just going to the modem, if possible? Then reboot your PC and try again.

FYI - Have you tried updating to W10 1909, anyway?

    1. I am using the stock antivirus/firewall that came with windows 10
    2. No error messages occur when I am in the client softwares
    3. By connect to the modem do you mean using ethernet cable? If so I am unable to do so.
    4. I scanned windows for updates and am on version 1909

Try setting your DNS to 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1

    OK.

Can you surf the internet? (I will assume yes.)
Does the Steam Client and Origin Client visibly connect when you start it?

Build 18363.535 is the latest official update.. You should be able to update via Windows Update. No rush.

Please hold off just a bit on that DNS change.
    It's not dangerous.

Kindly reply to my post above.

    Thanks.

Yes, I can do everything on the internet and have very high speed network (250mbps download last time I checked) The game clients run as normal with internet connection. Ps. I am running on that version since I updated.

I am assuming it is something to do with the games being blocked however I turned off my firewall and still couldn’t connect.

    OK.

Can you try a multiplayer game again for both Steam and Origin?
Not at the same time, though.

I want to see if you are still being "blocked."

    Let us know. Thanks.
