Unable to switch from Domain to Private use for my laptop ???

Hi, I’m running Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.535 on Toshiba Satellite Pro, Intel 7 5500u, 16 Go of RAM, and using a SSD of 950 Go.

I’m having this message in Windows Update, saying in yellow : *Some parameters are managed by your organization.

So, I have tried to modified the option of my laptop usage, which are supposed to be private, from Enterprise to Private use,

Unable to switch from Domain to Private use for my laptop ???-2019-12-13-07_51_31-joindre-un-domaine-ou-un-groupe-de-travail.png

Each time I select the appropriate case (Private use), after rebooting, it’s back to Enterprise !???

I don’t recall of any modification in the Group Policies, beside wanting to be told of updates and letting me decide, and no update of drivers from Microsoft, and no modification has been made to the Registry regarding telemetry.

So, if someone has a hint on how to fix this, it would be really appreciated !

    Thank You

Are you logging into Windows with a password? If not, making the files private like this will disable anyone from being able to view them. Without a password at login, it makes me think Windows knows this and is putting back to default.
If i am totally wrong here, apoligies. Hope you crack this

I’m using a local account, so at login, it’s asking me for my PIN code.
This laptop has never been on a domain, before upgrading to 1909, it was still for private use. I’m wondering if this has nothing to do with some stories about Microsoft putting the pressure to use a Microsoft account ???

And, now I’m using a PIN, because there’s something really weird happening when I’m typing my password. As I hit the third key there’s this sign « ` » that appears before the first letter already typed !???
As an example, if my password is : Banane123, it would appear like this as I hit the third key (n) : `Banane123

Somebody told me to delete the password and create a session without a password, and reboot twice, and this was supposed to clear the cache from Microsoft, after doing so, as I created a password from the interface, now that sign was appearing after the fifth letter !!!
So I did it all over again, and... the sign was back before the first character !

I created a new account, and it was the same issue with the password at login, but just like the main account, if I was using a PIN code with letters, numbers and characters, no issue at all, even if I was using the exact same word as a PIN code.
This issue with the password only happens, when I turn off the laptop or if I reboot, if I wake the laptop from sleep there’s no issue with the password !???
I tried different password, being careful not to use the same letters, numbers or characters for third key.
This issue had begun before the last “Patch Tuesday”, so it has nothing to do with the updates, and no new applications.
My Keyboard is in QWERTY, and there’s no issue with it, I type something in Notepad, Word, or even here on this forum, and there’s really nothing wrong.
I checked if the time zone was OK, if I was using the appropriate keyboard’s entry, and everything’s OK !
I ran DISM, sfc /scannow, and mounted an ISO to install WIM ! and the problem remains !!!

Thank You for your answer, if you have any idea, I’m all ears !

    Regards Jay

It looks like youre trying to make the 'Computer' private. You dont want that.
You need to make the 'Network' private

The only thing that I want, is to get rid of that yellow message.
And, one of the solution was to make the switch from “this computer belongs to an enterprise” to “this computer does not belong to an enterprise, and will be for private usage”.
But like I said, each time I reboot the computer, it’s back to the first option.

I don’t know what to do, and I don’t really understand the difference about what you are saying ???

    Thank You

Hey bud, hope everything going ok

Sorry for any confusion. As you can imagine, its not easy helping people over the internet who are 1000's of miles away. I do try my best, but maybe i need to try harder hehe so i will try and explain some of things i said earlier with a broader spectrum instead of assuming.

    Making a users files private,
What this is doing is locking down the 'Documents' of that user so they are only available to one specific account who uses a password to log in. Meaning you
So, if you are not using a password to log in, this would automatically lock you out of your own accounts file system. Windows 10 can see your mistake, and in turn, makes the files viewable and usable again for that particular account, clever really. You could give Trusted Installer a few points for this, but not many !
Back in the day, if you did this on Windows XP and didnt run a password, you possibly lock yourself out of your own account.

If you are wanting to move away from the 'Domain' to a 'Private' network connection, this is a totally different thing and probably what you actually trying to achieve

Hope this helps and let me know when you are ready for the next stage

Merry Christmas and Thank You for your answer !

So, I should leave it as it is, and will do so ! I don’t want to get locked out of my account !

But, how can I get rid of that yellow warning message ?

I went to the picture you saw to change the settings, after I had read an article saying that one way to get rid of that yellow message was to modify these settings, and reboot... and the yellow message would be gone, but it didn’t work, and the setting was back as it is in the picture.

So, if you know a way to get rid of this warning message, I’ll be willing to try some solution.

    Thank You

    Regards Jay
